#8 Gem~

Ie. you get creative ideas of how to work hard and put plans into action. None of this stuff about imagining a Ferrari and then having it appear in your driveway while you watch Scooby Doo.

THIS IS GREAT, lol, lol, lol~ I love it!

As I stated, I do believe in the Law of Attraction, but not in the sugar-coated candy version of Rhonda, et al.

They did a great disservice to many with that hype, and many of the "teachers" are still trying to shilll their "wares" all over the internet and in speaking engagements.

The one thing that has come out of all of this, is that I highly doubt that there will be a ""Secret II", which, btw, was in the works before the lawsuits started to fly.

Not any more!

I have complete total 100% belief in the law of attraction and it has brought me so much good.

BUT the dvd "The Secret" (I haven't read the book) is a glossed-over, whitewashed, and Hollywoodized presentation of the law of attraction. There's some secret society of men conspiring to keep the law of attraction a secret?? Huh? Then why did Andrew Carnegie ask Napoleon Hill to write a book about it, a book published in 1960 called Think and Grow Rich?

I heard someone else describe the movie as a "magic pill" version of the story to make it popular even amongst those who are too lazy to actually focus their efforts and set goals and plan properly. Pretty accurate I think. And the people saying that your own suffering is because you didn't know better--those are people who aren't really good at thinking so they apply a blanket principle to every situation. The world's easier to deal with if you pretend everything's black and white.

So the law of attraction is very good. But it is not the same as what's described in the secret, in my opinon. The Napoleon Hill book gives a much greater understanding of its power as a law of nature. He described how when in a heightened state of mental activity (from meditation, music, the emotion of sexual desire) your subconscience has access to some mysterious form of intelligence (he calls it infinite intelligence) that brings creative imagination to you and you recieve hunches that lead you to your vividly desired goal. Ie. you get creative ideas of how to work hard and put plans into action. None of this stuff about imagining a Ferrari and then having it appear in your driveway while you watch Scooby Doo.

Well, there is something to the Law of Attraction I feel, but as I stated in that article regarding Thom and "The Secret", it is definately more complex and complicated.

Thom's site is great, and he really has a great deal to offer. Hopefully he will be back to chat on David's show in the near future:)

#4~ I See Stupid People~ (Love, love, love that name!)

And regarding the Secret, there are a lot of them.

At the risk of coming across as a total bitch, however, lol, I do understand how people can get caught up in it.

People want hope, but even moreso than hope, they want an easy fix to what "ails" them. In the "Powerful Intentions" forum heyday, people were hawking easy fixes galore. This was about 3 months into the Secret DVD wildfire, then the book came out. It was a virtual free and open market place for an easy fix....... 1001 magic elixirs to make one's life instantly complete. Problem there is NOTHING was free. There was one chick there that was selling her mini e- books (really just short essays) called "The Magic Pill", for like $20 a pop.

As always, curiosity got the best of me and I had to see how easy this pill went down. Par for the course, it was a super sugar coated version of reality that was designed for her "followers" to by the next e-essay to go on to the next sugar loaded step. It was freakin' ridiculous, but a tidy little side biz for her for at least 6 months or so. She had a forum there that was quite busy for a time.

Until people caught on it was total bullshite.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It was both horrific and facinating to watch. The proverbial train wreck.......and as soon as someone spoke out against the cult.............POOF..........you were labeled a heretic and bannished to non-believers e-hell to burn with the likes of anyone who had sense enough to call BULLSHIT on this noise.

CONda Byrnes was supposed to come out with a "Secret II", but unfortunately for her, she was not quick enough on the mark. All of her energy these days is spent DE-tracting the massive amounts of lawsuits that have been filed against her.

As for your friend...............while it is painful to watch, there really isn't anything that you can do about it.........they have to find their own way. Hopefully they will see the light sooner than later, or at least before they loose more money.

Keep in touch and enjoy Thom's site (the hoot..........er......ah........hotty he is! ;)

In my opinion, you are both a hoot and a gas! Although I prefer Scotch Mints to Hot Tomales, my sentiments exactly! I have a friend, well, an acquaintance, really. In her quest for untold wealth, happiness and success, she has shelled out thousands attending seminars all over the US (a country in which we do not reside) and is now (Lord help me) a "Certified Facilitator of the Secret" or some other BS title. The fine print on the website says that she is only at level 1 or something, and must hold a predetermined number of seminars that bring in a set amount of money and people. After jumping through this hoop, and assuming she meets the "budget", she moves up (to what, I might add?). What crap. And if you could see the mess her life is in, you would crap. Someone else I know has quit her friggin' job in order to devote herself to the pursuit of this facilitation thingy! (I know I am being a bit technical with my language, so beg pardon if you are having difficulty keeping up with me :).

Off I go to read Thom's wisdom and hottiness. Oops. I really did mean to type "hootiness". I'll let you know what I think of "Embracing Fear". I asked the Universe to send me a copy, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I'm figuring I'll have to get off my a** (which said Universe has also not made any more shapely, and believe me, I have envisioned and wanted it) and head to Chapters.

(Many thanks for a great blog. Would like to check out more topics. I have a thingy around here (more tech talk) that speaks my name so clearly that I actually answer automatically, even though I know I am the only one home. I have a hunch/feeling that I know who it is, and I would like to get to know her. She is obviously trying to get to know me.)

First, I absolutely loved my interview with David on his radio show. Second, thank you for referring to me as a "hoot" before mentioning that I am a psychotherapist; this indicates true insight into my very soul. Third, let's all pause and appreciate the word "hoot." The word itself is a hoot. Fourth, those hot tamale candies are delicious and the fact that you would trade a dozen large bags for my book means a lot. Fifth --- I forgot what the fifth is --- no wait, I got it: What do I call you? Bohemian? Bo? Ms. Moon? Sixth, I sincerely thank you for your enthusiastic endorsement of my work, and I am very happy to be aware of your work. Seventh, there always needs to be seventh in this kind of list; just having six will simply not do. Eighth --- who am I kidding? There is no eighth.

By the way, my email address is thomrutledge@earthlink.net, and I would love to hear from anyone interested in the work I am doing. All help spreading the word is always appreciated, especially since the genie, that is the universe, is apparently not speaking to me.
