Retracted Accolades ~ No Worries, Kate
Sep 1st, 2008 by BohemianMoon
It seems as though Good Housekeeping may be retracting their misguided honor of Kate Gosselin as “Mother of the Month”.
Upon hearing of this mockery about a week and a half ago, many concerned parties wrote to Good Housekeeping Magazine to voice their displeasure as well as their impending boycott of the magazine should they continue with this insult which is, IMO, paramount to a swift slap in the face to every hard working mother in the USA.
A day later I received an email stating that they appreciated my thoughts, and they were forwarding my mail to the “senior editors”.
Not a week later, those that had written much later in the week received form letters that stated Kate was not “Mother of the Month”.
Fascinating.
No worries Kate! I have a well thought out, finely crafted award just for you:
Take a bow, please!

Of you check correctly the original comment that Kate was to be “Mother of the Month” came from the GWOP site you frequent. They were incorrect in their comments as usual. Good Housekeeping never does “mother of the month” and never will. So when it was stated as she wasn’t, sorry she never was. Sorry to see that you have such a hate site going here. Wish you would get the information correct and not try to make it look like the haters from that site were the ones to change the magazines mind. They never will.
#1 Anon~
I was in communications with GH.
‘Nuff said.
As for my “hate site”, nope. No hate, just major concern for 8 little children that are dollar signs in the eyes of their parents and corporate America.
‘Nuff said.
I am worried that GH is still going to feature her in the magazine since there is a photo shoot planned. Just because she is not Mother of the Month doesn’t mean they won’t feature her as some sort of supermom.
I think the letters should continue in hopes that they decide to nix her all together!
#3 Fedup~
I agree Fedup, and I have written them again today.
I urge all readers who feel that Good Housekeeping is adding to the string of Corporate America that is aiding in the exploitation of these children, please, contiue to write in.
Please urge GH to spotlight a mother/family who is truly going through struggles and trials and can use the acknowledgement.
Some suggestions:

I agree, with the publication of the new and wonderful book – y’know the one that Kate and her BFF Beth wrote together – then suddenly became JON and Kate and Beth having written it, there is going to be a book tour and promotion. Of which the GH shoot is definitely part of. And for those who dissed the National Enquirer for exposing the situation eariler, the Main Stream Media ignored the Enquirer over the John Edwards affair too! Sooner or later, it won’t be us and the tabloids exposing these people for the fakes they are.

Thanks for your comments. I am about to put up a list of sponsors of J&K, and I urge everyone to write to them stating their concern and displeasure over their corporate sponsorship, and contribution to the exploitation of children.
And I agree with your comments on the National Enquirer article. While many feel that it is a tabloid magazine, I am sure that John Edwards and his constituents felt the same way……………at least for a while.
Where there is smoke, there is fire.
I was going to post a comment, but I am not even going to bother. BTW – when you speak of the Gosselins in plural form there is no apostrophe unless you are speaking about them in possessive form and then it would be Gosselins’. It is just bothersome to be that you are so bent on getting your “facts” and such straight, but can’t use spellcheck or be concerned about your grammer usage.
#7 Marlen~
Thank you for taking your time to point out a typo. Luckily for me, I can edit mine.
You however? Not so much.
It is GRAMMAR, not grammer………what were you saying about spellcheck?
Bohemian Moon,
Please accept my apologies if I am stepping on your toes, but I have an idea.
Marlen,
May I direct you to the Gosselin’s (possessive form) updated website? You will find it at sixgosselins.com. Gosh darn it, when I read it I actually thought Kate was coking in the kitchen! But it’s (this would be the contraction for “it is”) a good thing that I check my facts with the help of people like Bohemian Moon and others (no apostrophe necessary). I don’t recall seeing or reading anything about Kate doing lines in the kitchen or anywhere else, so I immediately formed an opinion that it must have been a spelling error on a professionally designed website! But I’m sure your concern and help will be appreciated and much needed. I’ve noticed that they have changed many mistakes since launching the new site last week, perhaps with help from people like you. And BTW – could you please ask Kate to restrain herself when using the exclamation point? It is getting annoyingly annoying.
LOL!
Annoyingly annoying!
Come on Marlen, you have to admit that I See is pretty damn witty.
That was great:) Thank for the giggle, I See. It helped to break up the monotony of my insomnia. Much appreciated!
Bohemian Moon,
High praise indeed. Some of your responders are highly entertaining in their own right without meaning to be. Oh dear, is that a dangling preposition? I must register at the Kelsey Grammer School immediately (gotta love LB!). My father always said that it is difficult to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Thanks for keeping on track and cutting through the BS. It gives me hope for the 8, and the many that will follow if nothing is done NOW.
LOL @ I See–
I love it—
Now–
Marlen, I could easipy dissect your one paragraph–
However, since this is a blog- I will respectfully offer a couple of basics in sentence structure—
Run on sentences–If you used a comma, the following word should never be —and or but—If either of these are used, a period is required— I think this was taught in 5th or 6th grade–The same applies to—- Also—–
I never learned —–dashes——- were an acceptable subsitute for periods———–
Apparently, you & I don’t adhere to that rule—————————–
I use them on blogs & E-mails—–For me, it’s a lazy way to end a sentence———————————————————————
One last observation———————————————————The use of preposition rules———————————————-
Those without sin cast the 1st stone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You get the point————————————————————
#11~ I See:
You are KILLIN’ me here, lol, Kelsey Grammar School, lol!
I so appreciate you!
#12 Casrolsue~
LOL!
You see what happens, Marlen, when one opts for the lowest common denominator in discussion/debate? As in picking on typos, grammAr or syntax when they have no argument?
The REAL grammAr police come a callin’!
Bad debater, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Bad debater!
Ya’ll always make me laugh dash dash dash Of all the blogs I read all the BS—I promise this is the only one where a party for one exsists—-
Mostly, I read a ton of,”collectionary BS that is horrendisly(I can’t even spell it) horrendous while exhaustingly exhausting”!!!!!!!!!!
I crack myyself up—-LOL—-
OMG–I just drank a gulp pf what I’m thinking is my,house wine of the south—Nope, my dh’s rum & coke-Yikes! I wasn’t prepared at all–
So, how have ya’ll been doing?
Moon, you are keeping up with the letters I see–I wrote all the sponsors,figure8,GH & TLC-Do you think anyone is listening? There are some die hard fans I don’t understand at all- the facts mean nothing, I really don’t debate with them at all—-I couldn’t be nice–I try to give the shortest response possible–Some with sarcasm that shoots above their heads–
I do so appreciate ya’ll——
Have a great evening!
#15 CarolSue~
Lifting that Rum and Coke MUST be exhaustingly exhausting!
Wine, my dear, much less strenuous, you know. Less ice and all that:)
Writing TLC/Discovery, Figure 8 will do no good. The sponsors, however, will.
I am about to post a relatively comprehensive list of them.
I do hope people will continue writing!
OO good–
I was just over reading PennMommy’s comments—She is taking lots of flack—-WTH—-I don’t understand what these defenders of the religion of KON— It’s there & they refuse to see–If that’s not enough, attack the messenger–Someone even started a PENNMOMMY is a faud blog—It’s taken down now–A few posters wrote wrote saying it was–Itsjust me, that opened the blog–I wonder if that person is sitting in a closet?—
Whatever, I feel so sorry for PennMommy & BK–this is scary stuff–
Does anyone understand this? I feel out of touch–Is it my age, different area of the country-what amI missing? I know there is no understanding crazy–Some of those posters make me feel I’m the crazy one–
Thank Goodness, we are are sane here!—-lol
Opps–sorry about the typo’s–I’m blazingly upset(or it could be hot flashes
#17~ CarolSue:
I particularly like the argument over scriptures and who is a REAL Christian.
No one wins in an arugment regarding scripture since it can obviously be twisted to self serve what or whomever’s brand of Christianity may be. It is amusing though. All these women spewing hate at each other in the name of religion.
Some things never change, eh?
You are so IMMATURE.. Sad that a grown woman can be so ignorant spiteful and YES, Jelious. Too bad you are probably not halgf the mom she is nor half as pretty. To bad, you are not as creative and tidy and too bad your kids are probably uglier then hers and not as well mannered…
Damn… don’t we hate moms who have it together… especially TV moms? lol… you woman who bash the show are a joke. You don’t have to love it or even like it, but why do you continue to read about it and trash it then? You say you are concerned for explotation for the kids. Don’t you think that by the older girls reading this BS you put out is just as bad as working on a set?
Get lost and get a life. You are a sorry sack of crap.
#20 Summertime~
I get it Summertime! You love watching the gross exploitation of children and will defend your misguided voyeurism of same in anyway that your education level allows, as evidenced in your comment.
As I have stated to other posters, insults don’t faze me. Well thought out argument/discussion, however, does. Unfortunately you have not reached anywhere near level in your education or your life. Feel free to return once you have something (anything!) to contribute that indicates you are capable of critical thinking/debate/dicussion.
Until then, keep following the flock where you are obviously comfortable. It is so much easier to follow than to lead; no thinking required.
Please and Thanks, list all the Kon sponsors so we can try
to twist their arms. The kids should all be in preschool and then
maybe do a holiday special with the G’s.
#22 L Wilson~
I have one comprehensive list here:
http://blog.psychic-wisdom.net/2008/09/08/taking-the-cha-cha-out-of-cha-ching-or-hit-em-where-it-hurts/#comment-511
And am working on a list of the new sponsors (as seen last evening) as we speak. I will obviously publish it to the main “Jon and Kate” section of my blog, where all of the entries regarding J$K are listed.
Thanks so much for your comments, and I do hope you will write the sponsors!
I also wrote GH and was made to feel a bit foolish when they told me they were not honoring Kate. I had thought I was the one who was mistaken. Now I see that it was them that looked a bit foolish.
#24 Stewie ~
I fixed your link, btw, so sorry, I wrote the URL incorrectly:(
Yeah, your were completely correct, and I am doing an entry later this evening with my emails to GH and their responses.
They are full of you know what, and as we speak are smacking their lips at the increase in sales of this copy……..they fiigure Gossselin friend or foe is going to buy the copy.
I am not buying it.
They are one more corporate whore as far as I am concerned. They had time NOT to run this story, but they heard the controversy and the CHA-CHING drowned out the sound of child exploitation.
Anything for a buck!
#20-Summertime
Last time I checked a mother who admits to not noticing that her kids lack sufficient time and attention from her, is not a good mom, and who made the rule that a pretty mom is good mom? All moms would be “pretty” if we were offered free trips to spas and salons, free plastic surgery (you see where this is going)…..only any mom worth her weight in salt would never exploit her kids for those perks. Most loving adoring moms would put their childs needs before their own, and would rather spend 12 hours rolling around on the floor playing with their kids and hugging and kissing them and telling them how loved they are, then going to get their hair done (that goes for Jons plugs too).
If the only debate you can bring to the table is looks, then it is you who is immature and jealous……. and I truly hope you have no children, because if you do it sounds as if you probably follow in the footsteps of KON, who by the way, are not RAISING their kids at all!! Go post on KON fan pages, we are not interested!!
