Speaking of Poetry……..
Dec 28th, 2008 by BohemianMoon

A bit before Christmas, the Mr. and I had the pleasure of attending a local reading of our no-longer-an-adolescent unit’s recent work.
Ever the proud Momma, I would like to share it with you here~ (some a little racy, perhaps……but he IS, after all, an 18 year old male
)
Song #1
In the confidence of her suitor,
I find myself drawn; Eyes met and
Countenance gauged, to find the
impetus ours the same.
Cheek to cheek,
Vanity’s true compliment.
Song #2
My lively lust was pure,
When you I did adore,
But then some brute,
Did come to suit,
And I lively lust no more.
Song #3
One day while suckling
Hard candy, my tooth will
split And out will spill
100
Angels
Muses
and
Pale-faced sinners.
Riding forth like
bony death and I will
behave.

“Harlots and Heroines”
I have just smoked a cigar in the presence
of harlots and heroines.
Unseen but audited conversation
and sultry predilections.
Does God pity those who idolize
the lines of a face,
or those whose movements reconcile the
human body as the final frontier?
A velvet skyline to which those ladies
with wanton gazes do quietly chatter
about coup and revolution,
usurped about her back and deconstructing
the castes of her thighs.
Does God pity us men whose witticisms
indoctrinate those night-walkers into our heads or
whose moral braces do permit them into our beds.
Industrious men who let the inky blackness
of orators caress them into depression.
Save me, O lord! That these sirens not
befuddle my steady hand and curse their
way into my heart.
I am defenseless against their furtive looks.

Ege!
Vir mulierque
Osculantur Detorquent Futuent
Sed: audi mihi atque hoc res ego dico
His hominibus causa est maior libide
Causa est forma libidis mensis, pro scientia
Libido pro absoluti Apollinis
Et, ergo, ei
Ludicant Putant Cogitantque
Atqui hoc scis
Locus est inter hoc duos
Inter primum et eruditum
Qua hoc duos
Convenent
Et hic vir haecque mulier
factum primum facti luctarantur
et factum sunt atomos terrae

Whoa! Your son is 18, correct?
He is very talented. Send him props from me!
#1 Gardensedge~
Yes, well 18.5. He will be 19 at the top of May.
Thanks
I will send on your good wishes.
And thanks for taking the time to read and comment, it is appreciated
I’m impressed-very impressed–
Amazing work—-
The apple doesn’t fall from the tree–
Kuddo’s to you both–
#3 Carolsue~
Awww thank you. My son is a solid and creative writer. It is not what he aspires to do for his livelihood (at least at this time), but it is one of his creative outlets.
He is an artist through and through and still deciding on what medium he will pursue. He is quite the filmmaker and loves studying social theory/symbiosis of relationship.
I think his love of film making may stem to the documentary for part of his life work. I also feel that he will hold a professorship at one point in his life, probably the latter years.
Regardless, he is a thoughtful, giving person, and I couldn’t be more proud of the man he is becoming.
Very impressive. I never in a million years would have guessed that it was written by someone only 18.5 years old! Reminds me of a classical piece.
#4 Rebecca~
Thanks Rebecca, I will send on your well wishes. He entered university early (at 16 – College of Bard at Simon’s Rock)and has been studying the classics and Latin for the past two years as part of his Liberal Arts education. This year he is studying locally for a year and is transferring this coming fall – his hope is Oberlin, Cornell or Brown. I am “secretly” hoping for Oberlin, though Cornell would be closer.
We will see
The fruit of your loins is indeed prolific!
I came back to read once again–After reading your latest post on the a$$ holes in FL
Poetry does calm me–
I’m so glad you posted some of your son’s work here–
I needed that–
There are no accidents–
