Kate rips Jon for failing to use a coupon, offers advice to octuplets’ mother
TLC’s intensely, fascinatingly disturbing show Jon & Kate Plus Eight reached a new level Monday night, when Kate threatened to shoot her husband after he failed to use a coupon.
The show has been criticized for Jon and Kate’s behavior toward one another, and now, Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker says Kate “was just too much” on Monday night’s episode. Although Tucker writes that he “[doesn’t] really want to contribute to the Kate-hate, which is often way over-the-top,” he took issue with Kate’s reaction after Jon “bought a new shower nozzle” but “didn’t use a coupon when he went to the store.”
That led Kate to tell the cameras “I’m gonna shoot him!” and tell her husband “You’re not buying anything anymore! … This is annoying; beyond annoying! … Where’s the receipt? … What is the rule about receipts? … You’re gonna go back to the store this afternoon!”
Elsewhere, in her non-reality TV show life, Kate has recently been appearing on TV and in the media to talk about the octuplets, because who knows more about how to monetize children?
She appeared on Larry King Live, and responding to Larry’s question about whether their kids are “our business,” Kate said, “obviously, we put them out there. And, you know, our goal in our show is to show the real life of what it is like to have two sets of multiples. And basically, essentially, we’ve made it your business.”
When Larry pointed out that the father of the octuplets isn’t involved, Kate said, “That worries me a lot.” Yes, because who will there be to yell at besides the camera crew? But Kate did not respond when Larry asked, “Apparently, Lisa, the woman wants to sell her story, we learned, to media outlets for money to raise her family. What do you make of that?”
Kate also gave unsolicited advice to the octuplets’ mother in People (where else!), but surprisingly, her eight points of advice do not include how to turn your kids’ lives into entertainment, or using the fame that comes from your reality show to get your name in People magazine and other media.

People have been asking, almost begging, for some “mainstream” media coverage of the show. Looks like things are starting to heat up.
I would expect the PR (that’s Public Relations, in case you’ve been in a closet) to heat up and go into overdrive soon. Gotta protect the family business, you know.
On another note, I am getting a kick out of the smoke and mirrors being set up at other sites to obscure the “coupon controversy.” It’s not about a coupon or lack of one, folks; it’s about how Kate spoke to Jon about it.
I don’t care if they use coupons for everything in their lives and home. I do care that adults speak to each other in a civil manner, especially in front of six little cash cows, I mean, children.
That’s what the “lovers” seem to be missing in the debate. These people talk about J&K as some kind of role model for families. Good God! If they aspire to the relationship demonstrated weekly on TV, imagine what life is like at their homes.
If Kate is an organizational icon to them, I think they need a visit from “Clean House,” because as far as I can tell, Kate talks the talk, but leaves a big mess for others. Labeling boxes for a move. Revolutionary!
Sorry, this turned into a bit of an unorganized catch-all. How about a thread for “Myths and Reality of Jon & Kate + 8: Discuss”?
The PR (public relations) firm is really pushing Kate. My guess is the show is going to end soon and they are trying to make Kate a “Brand”. Do I think it will work? NO! I think most people turn in to watch the kids. As far as her becoming a spokesperson for the CA mom, eventually she will be on a talk show that will really put her on the spot. I think that things that were being said on Larry King may have hit close to home.
I’m just baffled by the fact that Kate is yelling at Jon for not using a coupon. “JON WE USE COUPONS FOR EVERYTHING!” Ok Kate I’m pretty sure Starbucks doesn’t have regular coupons for your $5.00 coffee. In the words of Kate, “Might as well throw $5.00 in the trash.” Don’t get me wrong, I drink coffee at that price sometimes too, but I don’t claim to be using coupons and putting my toys on layaway at K-Mart!

I’m curious to see how the Greedslin PR are going to explain away the “I’m going to shoot him” comment. 99% of what comes out of her mouth is inappropriate and ridiculous but this one takes the cake. Nice mouth, Kate!!

Sure there’s coupons for Starbuck Coffee. The kids are coupons. Let’s face it, this couple pays for very little.
I think the overkill on the coupon incident is just another one of Kate’s attempts to distract the audience from their huge new house. Last week it was all about that filthy fridge, this week it’s about the filth behind the freezer and coupons. Smoke and mirrors to distract from their palatial new digs.

I agree, but I think that it is back firing on them. Particularly the “We don’t buy anything without coupons”. I said some where on another thread, they need to watch Jon’s video interview in Utah where he plainly states that they don’t get their food from Wholefoods, that they buy it from organic farmers in the area. They call up and make an order and it is delivered. Then the next show after that shows Kate in a grocery store, around the veggie section shopping.
They LIE over and over and over again, and either their fans are too stoopid to get it, or they think that if they defend Jon and Kate they will become their BFFs of something, lol.
Personally I think that the coupon scene was completely staged and scripted strictly to garner controversy…..and get the blogs a’buzzin’. What was more real and natural in my opinion and worse because it was real was when Kate was going around the table mandating to Jon, “this tup needs changing, this tup too, and don’t forget this one, CAN YOU HEAR ME?” that was awful, it was like she was speaking to servant that sleeps out back in the barn. Why the eff can’t SHE do it herself? or at the very least speak kindly to Jon?

I’ve read (haven’t had the opportunity to check out for myself on his website) that Bill O’Reilly’s pissed as hell about Octomom and vows to get to the bottom of it. Will be tuning in @ 8 on FoxNews Channel to see if he blows his stack…

When Billo blows his stack, he really blows it. I hope he really rips into Octopussy big time. Then, he needs to get KON by convenient association. Octopussy, for a vile as she is, actually, I think, is a catalyst for chipping away at the KON scam/fraud/child pimping. The mainstream media is picking up on KON more and more. I think it’s just a matter of time before KON is exposed.

Billo is a mean, small-minded, narcisstic SOB who is a hateful fascist (along with the equally hateful Sean Hannity). I have a hard time with listening to this idiot for more than 60 seconds. However, he’s perfect to go after Octopussy because his show is viewed by A LOT of sheeple. However. I don’t think I can watch – don’t need the hateful vibe. I’ll look at his website tomorrow and see if anything is there, though.

I think the whole coupon thing was staged as well, but for a different reason. Since Kate is P&G’s coupon spokesperson, she NEEDS to pretend that she is a coupon queen. Must keep up appearances in order to keep the gig. Same with every single thing she shills: her own brand of “motherhood”, layaway, etc.
Maybe Paul Petersen should come back on Billo to talk about Octopussy and Jon and Kate. Paul can talk about the child exploitation and how all these parents are selfish and uncaring.
I think that Kate needs to realize that people know how much $$ they blew on their great big house, and buying a condo in the mountains, and with they way they are throwing $$ around right now, not one person can honestly buy her coupon bull shit anymore. Just like its obvious to any viewer with a brain that she is not the loving attentive mother and wife she wishes the world would think she is, but a rather a manipulative, abusive, neglectful, cold, bitter woman who is jealous of her 8 beautiful children, and the bond that her husband has with them. In most cases it breaks my heart when couples can’t have kids, but this is one woman who was definately not EVER meant to bring life into this world. CPS cannot step in fast enough, why have they not done so yet?
Just one question that keeps coming up in my mind – do we actually KNOW that they bought this condo in Utah? I know it’s been discussed for awhile and assumed to be true here and on other sites but I’m wondering if we’ve all been jumping to conclusions just because we (myself included) WANT as many examples as possible of their greed and idiocy. Is there any proof anywhere?
I thought the coupon bit was staged as well. Just to let their viewers know that even though they had ridden the tups gravy train to the McMansion, they still used coupons. Either way, Kate came out looking like a moron.

I LOVE the bulldog in Bill. When he sinks his teeth into an issue he won’t let it go until he gets results. He’s had great success in pushing Jessica’s Law and forcing judges to get child predators/killers off the streets. That’s why I’m hoping he’s outraged enough about HOM KON Artists and will tear this whole issue apart.
Jon did an interview in Utah recently where he said he wanted to buy a house in Utah, but never actually said they did. He did elude to the fact that he was doing something “secret” there in Utah for the show. That interview was interesting….he admitted that they have a “babysitter” (he asked that she not be called a nanny) 6 hours a day. This completely contradicts Kate’s claim on Larry King that “it is just her and Jon”. Guess their PR person forgot to have them get their story straight…

I don’t know for a fact if they purchased a condo in Utah. But evidently there are people out there that know. How would we know the exact house they purchased? I believe that there is always some truth to what we read.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier re: Bill O. Wednesday night he just read about a half a dozen emails…no big rant or anything. Yet.
I never really paid attention to Bill before, but I completely understand how some of you bristle at the sound of his voice. Rush Limbaugh has that effect on me. Can’t stand hearing a millisecond of his voice.
Has anbody downloaded and saved the video from John’s Utah interview (kutv.com)? I keep meaning to have my son (my IT guy, ha ha) see if it can be saved and never have gotten to it…have a feeling it’ll be ripped off the site soon.

Interview is still on website for you to save. I watched it again the other day and still cannot believe (ok, I can) how dumb Jon Gosselin is.
Good to see I am not alone in becoming sickened by Kate’s greed and control issues. Does she even know the words humility? Graciousness? Soft words?
She thinks she is charitable…because of the yard sale…proceeds going to St. Jude’s. SHE SOLD STUFF THAT OTHER PEOPLE GAVE HER, for goodness sakes…but she sure likes to act like it came out of her pocket and that she and Jon should receive the crown of charity. THEN, when they gloriously display how they go to K-Mart to buy toys for the St. Jude’s children…ummm, K-Mart donated all of those toys!
This incident, among all of the many times Kate uses such a demeaning manner and words, have been irking me the most.
Here’s a question I have about the stink Kate made when Jon didn’t use a coupon….has anyone ever heard of a coupon for a darn shower head????? A coupon for a hardware store, for that matter? Or was she talking about the “coupon” she would get when she mentioned the store’s name on TV?

I do not know what coupon she was talking about. As for hardware stores, I know when we bought the house here, we received a 50% off one item coupon from Lowes and a 20% off coupon on one item from Home Depot, as a “welcome to the area” thing. Regardless, she was out of line talking in the way she talked about it, IMO.
I am just curious, does anyone know how Kate is received at all of her speaking engagements? I wonder if people who do not appreciate her chosen lifestyle, ego and attitude attend and call her on it?

From what I have read, she is received well since it is mostly her fans or those that don’t know her in attendance. From what I have read as well, all questions are fielded.
This was also the case with Jon this weekend at Penn State from what I read from a fan recap of the engagement.
