Quote of the Week~ It’s a Dooooosie!
Apr 13th, 2009 by BohemianMoon

I receive a great many emails on a weekly basis and for the most part I appreciate them all. Some are funny, some informative to the various subject matter on Musings, some are completely off the wall, and some simply make me go “WTF?”.
The following would be a prime example of the latter:
“………….I think some bloggers look rather ridiculous venting their spleen about Caylee Anthony, as if taking a stand against children being murdered were a brave and controversial thing to do. But there are a lot of stupid bloggers out there.”
This quote and the post from which it derived, was a reply to a entry on another blog that was exploring what qualifies as exploitation of children. This reply post was both sent to me and placed on the Musings Forums (http://forums.musingsfromthemoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=128&p=1131#p1131). It was suggested from those who sent it to me (there were a few) that this post was taking a jab at me because I am primarily the only blogger in the “Gosselin Blogosphere” that blogs about the Caylee Anthony case and other missing children.
Whether it was directed at me or not really isn’t my issue as I couldn’t care less about passive aggressive snark directed at myself and what I do or do not blog about. What does concern me, however, is the apathetic message this quote and the original post, as a whole, conveys.
“……I think some bloggers look rather ridiculous venting their spleen about Caylee Anthony, as if taking a stand against children being murdered were a brave and controversial thing to do.”
I am unsure of what is “ridiculous” about raising awareness of missing children, and further, once these children are found brutally murdered, as in the Caylee Anthony case, speaking out regarding their alleged murderer/s. I would agree that there is nothing brave nor controversial in taking a stand against violence on innocent children, in the year 2009 at least. It should be the status quo to do so; standard practice as it were, particularly for a nation which had, disturbingly, laws that protected animals long before it had laws protecting children or women. The accolades for “brave and controversial’ belong to the likes of Marietta Wheeler, Henry Bergh, Jane Addams, Elbridge T. Gerrywomen and all of the other women and men that worked tirelessly to enact and establish protective rights for children.
In the year 2009, coupled with the existing technology that enables one to reach people the world over with a simple click of a mouse it is, to me, a no brainer to use this medium to raise awareness and speak out regarding the exploitation, violence and crimes against children. In the Caylee Anthony case it is interesting to note that in the pretrial hearings there is not one of her flesh and blood sitting behind the prosecution advocating for the victim, an innocent toddler. No, all of Little Caylee’s flesh and blood are sitting behind and supporting her alleged murderer. At least bloggers and others all over the internet are supporting the victim when her family isn’t, and if this makes me a “stupid blogger”, then mark my words, I am more than happy to be labeled a dolt.

I read that Moon, and I couldn’t believe it. It is not a thought process I can or would ever understand. Oh, and I do believe that it was directed at you. Why they can’t mind their own business is beyond me. Perhaps it is a case of them needing to stir the pot to get their blog numbers back as it looks pretty slow there lately.
Eloquently stated Moon, thank you.
I applaud you, Moon, for covering the Caylee Anthony tragedy and missing children. I’m glad someone is pointing out that this poor baby girl was murdered once by her mother, and then again by her grandparents, who refuse to face reality.
I agree that you were being attacked, and it’s sad that someone attacked you for defending a murdered child.
If Casey were to tell her parents that a masked gorilla eating Cheetos is the murderer, her parents would believe her without batting an eyelash. It’s beyond sad.
I’m sure you’ve read the People articles about the Anthonys, but there was one in particular that highlighted George and Cindy’s pathological lying and penchant for denying reality.
I believe it was Cindy’s brother who said that despite Casey being visibly (very visibly) pregnant, Cindy flat-out denied it. He recounted looking at an obviously pregnant Casey, but being bitched out and lied to by Cindy.
Another instance exemplified George’s lying, and it was chilling.
Little Caylee never had a chance.
That entire blog was set up to make fun of and comment on another blog. It didn’t quite work out as they planned since the other blog pays no attention to them. They were reduced to posts about recipes, tv shows and other non-Gosselin topics and their numbers went down to nothing. My guess is they’ll be casting their net around to all the other anti-Gosselin blogs trying to get some attention.
For every Caylee Anthony out there, I wonder how many other horrific crimes are investigated and prosecuted without any public interest in them. How many child abusers receive minor sentences which let them get out of jail and repeat their crimes because no one is holding the justice system’s feet to the fire? If blogging about this raises the public awareness of these crimes, helps find a missing child or causes parents to take steps to keep their kids safer I can’t imagine why anyone would criticize the process.

If Casey were to tell her parents that a masked gorilla eating Cheetos is the murderer, her parents would believe her without batting an eyelash. It’s beyond sad.
Exactly! And yes, I did read the People with the story about Casey being pregnant and Cindy denying it. How utterly bizarre, but not half as bizarre as Cindy and George upholding the Zanny the Nanny defense. They really tried to drive that point home in the civil case depositions, and backed the defense farther into the corner regarding this defense. Cindy et al also have tried to pin the murder on Jessy Grund and some of Casey’s other boyfriends. It was interesting in the beginning, Cindy was trying hard to raise major suspicion around Jesse Grund, but unbeknown to her, he had already taken a polygraph and passed with flying colors. Jesse’s father was on Nancy Grace last week and related that they are still trying to pin this on Jesse and the family. Incredible.
What has me scratching my head, is how so much crazy ended up in one family. It’s like Cindy and George met at a retreat for pathological liars and fell in love. I can understand one of them being “off,” but both of them? Liars?
When Casey was walking her dog with a friend, and the dog took a dump on a man’s lawn (in the man’s clear view), Casey lied about the dog relieving itself when the man confronted right then and there. She learned how to lie from two crazy liars, and the friend said it was chilling.
While the lying is scary, I think it’s equally frightening that they think people will never discover the truth. You can say the grass is blue all you want, but it’s still green. People have eyes.
I’m thinking that even if Casey admitted she killed her daughter, Cindy and George would deny it.
Where did Casey get Zanny’s name? Did she simply rip it out of the phonebook?
Chrissy said “For every Caylee Anthony out there, I wonder how many other horrific crimes are investigated and prosecuted without any public interest in them.”
Many, many, many. I used to work in the prison system. This is no lie, I’ve seen guys who raped and murdered little babies get the same sentance as guys who broke in a warehouse and stole beer. Because some judges don’t care and no one made a fuss because they never heard of the case. Without people like BoMoon and Nancy Grace and others who care to give us the details, and make people aware and outraged, Miss Anthony could very likely get a 5-7 year sentance with parole. The rotten bitch won’t now. The power of the Internet is pretty awesome in the hands of one Bohemian Moon. There ARE a lot of stupid bloggers out there. They blog about where to get Kate’s haircut and make snide comments about murdered children.
PocketFullofPosies, I don’t mean to make you throw up, but, Xanax is commonly called Zanny. Take a zanny, pop a zanny. If you gave it to a kid so you could go out and party…
I can’t even finish the sentence.
PocketFullofPosies -
During a news report about the deposition last week, the anchor (sorry, don’t remember who I was watching – I’m thinking it was Friday AM while I was exercising, but I don’t know which network) was interviewing some man who had helped search for Caylee. He said that “Zanny” is a nickname for Xanax (in that area of Florida, with Casey’s peers), and that the entire family knew what “Zanny” meant when Casey said that was who was watching Caylee.
Caylee, sweetie, I am so glad that these people cannot hurt you anymore!
BoMo-
Let me join you, happily and proudly, in the dolt category.
I have never spoken out against children being murdered ( or kidnapped or exploited ) to be controversial nor brave.
I have done it because it disgusts me and hits me squarely in every sensible molecule in my body.
How does that makes me stupid?
Personally a stupid blogger would be one who continues to back a family whose current ( and recent past ) financial gain lays soley and squarely on the backs of 6 innocents.
Is that murder? No.
Is that stupid?
You bet!!!
After seeing George and Cindy’s depositions this past week, I know who made Casey a sociopath – her parents. I’ve never seen two people (besides their son and daughter) who so blatently refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and reactions.
I really don’t understand what that person was getting at in their e-mail, other than maybe making a judgement that people that do focus or include missing child alerts on their blogs are merely out for attention. Any focus on any missing child is a good thing, look at all the good work that Mark Klaas does, and Tim Miller. It would be a pretty sorry world if people didn’t care.
Whoever wrote that Bloggers here are stupid can kiss my ass.
Most people Blog about things they CARE about, IMO. Others
just need to get a life. Moon, I for one thank you for your interest
in the well being of children.
I found that whole entry to be transparent in its attempt to tie you into “child exploitation” because you have recently added Google ads to your blog.
Blogging about child abuse and murder is not a lucrative activity for you. I bet you make about a quarter a day from the ads. Not enough to make it worthwhile; blogging is what you’re doing because it is a means to an end and gives you a voice.
To adopt a holier-than-thou attitude because one blog has a few ads and another does not is hypocritical. Fan sites have ads; does that make them an exploiter of the Gosselin children? That owner is making money off kids. That’s OK because that blog owner agrees with the general opinion of the “exploitation” post and its author.
It also reveals a lack of understanding about e-commerce and the ways that businesses and people are changing, conducting business and communicating via the Web. A discussion about TV shows covering murder/rape/violent crime is not the same as a discussion about personal blogging; the two are not the same.
In my opinion, bringing Nancy Grace etc. into the argument was smoke and mirrors, to try and mask the message about your blog, as they have mentioned you repeatedly in threads and the discussions have been negative at best. Clearly, someone saw this as a means to take a jab at you and your blog – again.
Unfortunately, it showed that the people who have been crying foul against others who have said they were “child advocates,” really could care less about children. It revealed that they are more interested in getting at you and any blog that disagrees with them than taking a clear look at the many layers and kinds of “child exploitation.”
My sister told me last night when discussing the depositions of Cindy and George that earlier it was brought out that the crowd Casey ran with or that young partiers in general refer to “Zanax” as Zanny? a drug they give their kids to put them to sleep so they can party and not have to watch them?
I have not verbaly heard this myself but it was quite interesting to say the least. I watched some of Cindy’s deposition but could only take so much. Both parents are in Caseys back pocket? I do understand that she is their daughter, buttttt that was their grand baby that they had an active part, if not most of the hand in bringing her up for almost 3 years. How do you just push that aside even if it is your own daughter that committed the murder?? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I’m sorry….but if my daughter lives with me and I am an active caregiver of my grandchild ( or even if I wasn’t) and she told me for almost two years that the baby was with a nanny or child care person named Zanny, I would make sure I knew EVERYTHING about this person from whom they were, how and where they lived…etc!!! Especially with such an immature parent. The well being of the minor outways the loyalty to a parent anyday, whether it’s your daughter or not!!!
Fortunately little Caylee is now at peace and Casey, George and Cinday are not. Someday Casey and George and Cindy will be dealing with a much higher power whom WILL give little Caylee a voice and justice.
PocketFullofPosies~
She had been saying “Zanny the Nanny” since Caylee was a baby. It refers to Xanax. Some people use it to drug their children so they can go out and party. For the actual name Zenaida Gonzalez , this came from an apartment complex in which Casey knew some people. It turns out that she was outside at the apartment complex and she heard the property manager come out and call out to a Zenaida Gonzalez who was leaving after she had been in the office filling out the form to see an apartment. Casey heard that name and used it. It was very convenient that it could be the long version of Zanny. There is no Zenaida that watched Caylee, ever.
And-as I was googling for how common the Xanny the Nanny reference is I found a book on Amazon with a character named:
Zanny the Nanny
Wonder if Casey happened to read that in grade school…………..

And with Nancy Grace covering this and other cases the way that she has enabled her to promote and fund raise for both Equusearch and Klasskids Foundation, among other organizations, so they can continue their work. Without Grace’s promotion of Equusearch, they never would have had the funds to search for Caylee in the manner that they did, and then go on and still have to funds to continue to search for other missing persons across the US. I understand a lot of people have a problem with Nancy Grace, but she keeps missing kids in the forefront and certainly not only Caylee Anthony. She talks about a great many other children and other missing persons since I have watched her. She is not allowing people to forget Haleigh Cummings, a 5 year old from Putnam County Florida. Her shows were all about Sandra Cantu before she was found last week stuffed into a suitcase and tossed into a irrigation pond. Oh and she certainly doesn’t only cover little white girls, lol. The ethnicity of the child has no bearing on whether or not Nancy Grace gives them airtime. The only requisite is that the child is missing.

Amazing right, well not so amazing. Ignorant to be exact. This blog mentions GWOP in almost every thread, praises a fan site like Baby Mama’s by posting there, all the while saying they are not big fans of Kate. Their blog owner found me posting here how??, because they read all over looking for discussions, or topics. Also amazing they bashed the Peri hog wallow site calling it mean and turn around and take a swipe at Moon who does not usually allow discussion of other blogs here. Please Moon post this we all know they are reading here. You know some people are just dumb ass stupid. I got a few in mind. The thread there was about exploitation. The Gosselins Eight are being used to make J&K an income, face it. Her books, the show, speaking engagements would never exist if they just had twins. So in that manner they are being exploited! Period.
I wonder if the person that was quoted even has any children. I think it matters as a, from where position to debate.
Moon since you lost your spleen we could all donate blood, or just send that posters some brain cells??
Moon since much of the negativity directed at you and Peri seems to stem from me leaving that blog, I am going to bow out of these discussions. Guin, Nina, Saint and Anya, or what ever name it is this week or this blog, you all got what you wanted. Another negative Gosselin opinion based on facts off the net. So that being said you can leave Moon and Peri alone and kiss my ass.
Vicki~
I for one thank you for your interest in the well being of children.
Don’t thank me, no thanks are necessary. If we as a society don’t ban together and speak out against the misdeeds committed against children, who will?

Yeah it is certainly “lucrative”. I have my own domain and as it stands now, I am spending $80 a month to keep my blog up due to the amount of bandwidth I need. That certainly does not include any of my time. Unlike Blogger or Blogspot, I pay to host and run my site. If Google ads can help cover even a tiny portion of what it costs me to keep my blog up, then hell yeah I am going to have them there. If I am lucky I meet the threshold of the costs of my blog via Google ads and no more.

I would agree with this. Further I don’t know why they give a flying F about what I am or am not writing about on my blog. Stick to your own crap and leave me out of it.
Search for Truth~
Moon since much of the negativity directed at you and Peri seems to stem from me leaving that blog, I am going to bow out of these discussions.
Oh, no, Search. That blog was blogging about me LONG before you were posting there. As a matter of fact, they started blogging about me and my blog/spirituality in derogatory terms right after I wrote my first entry on J&K.
Search—don’t go!!
Stay with the rest of us ’stupid bloggers’!!!!
Now they are calling you a “lowly blogger” and stating that “disagreement is considered shockingly offensive” to you. They go on then to say that “thank God the team” there “permits differing views”. Then another chimes in and asks if people are not allowed to have differing opinions and speak what is on their minds. Uh, I guess the fact that you just did what they stated completely flew over their heads, ROFLPIMP!
Moon~
I feel bad that you are having to spend so much money to keep up a site that we are all enjoying so much for FREE. Other than clicking on ads, is there any other way to help defray the costs? This “stupid blogger” would like to help you out!

Now they are calling you a “lowly blogger” and stating that “disagreement is considered shockingly offensive” to you.

Moon,
These moronic people who adore real exploitation and sink to immeasuable lows to twist and turn words, events and actions is a pathetic attempt to make themselves look better. It is disgusting and transparent.
It accomplishes the exact opposite and makes them look worse than they did before.( I thought that was almost impossible but the idiots prove me wrong all the time.)
They take shots at you because they lack the basic ingredients to create and maintain a successful site of their own.
I have followed Caylee’s story from the beginning and have felt nothing but gratitude for your full informitive base of info here.

I am happy to hear this, except for the Oprah part. What in the hell is she interviewing them about? Talk about exploitation! CHA-CHING!
Lynnie, I’m following Sandra’s case closely because I lived in Tracy and my daughter’s father still lives there. I had assumed it was an accident but what you just reported shows that this is another example of sick adults that enjoy children in an unsavory way.
Why would any parent publish pictures of their babies when there are perverts of ALL SEXES out there??

Why would any parent publish pictures of their babies when there are perverts of ALL SEXES out there??
Exactly. Why when you are supposed to be the protector of your child, would anyone take a chance. Oh, I forgot, for money, of course.
Ya know….anyone who would have a problem with someone trying to stand up for the protection of children, and I mean ALL children, is no better than the people who prey on children. I’m sickened by this. If one child is hurt then the potential is there for ALL children to be hurt. It’s taken me awhile to post something today because I’ve been so upset by this person’s indifference.
I had a lovely, wonderful Easter dinner with my children and their significant others and I love them all dearly. I thank God every day for them. I hope and pray that all the parents who are suffering right now receive some peace. And I also pray that God gives some common sense to all the ridiculous, stupid, morons who walk the earth under the pretense of having some sort of twisted knowledge on things they don’t have the heart to understand.
TV, I also thought it was going to be found an accident. My mom and I were talking about it the other day. And I agree, it also proves there are pervs of all sexes out there.

Moon, DirtyDisher, and Koopdedoo, thank you so much for explaining the whole “Zanny the Nanny” issue. Suffice it to say, my hair stood up on my arms when I read your replies.
You know, I do remember hearing about Xanax being “Zanny the Nanny,” but I thought it was just a rumor at the time. I was still trying to figure out how Ms. Gonzalez’s name came into the picture, and I see now how everything fits together. It’s chilling, to say the least.

It was estimated in February about a year from then, but now that the Death Penalty may be back on the table, I am sure that it will not start for a couple more years.
Moon,
Years? She’ll be breathing air for at least a couple more years? It’s too bad Caylee wasn’t given that option.
How in the world will the court be able to find unbiased jurors?

_______
Moon, I just read online yesterday that the trial is set for October 2009. I did not know the death penalty was on the table. I knew that initially the prosecution decided NOT to pursue that. Do you know how and why the decision was made to go back to it? I do not support the death penalty at all in any case and I think Casey Anthony should be given life without parole and put into a prison that is a real hell hole on many levels. She is an evil skank and deserves the worst sentence possible in short of the death penalty.
Moon,
I just went to our friend Google. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the prosecutors are quoted as saying, “sufficient aggravating circumstances exist to justify the imposition of the Death Penalty…”
Apparently, these “aggravating circumstances” are new and changed the stance.
http://www.newsday.com/iphone/orl-bk-casey-anthony-case-death-penalty-041309,0,7517292.story
While it will be a death penalty case, they say that the jury (“death penalty cerified”) will not opt to give it to her as jurors simply cannot stomach the thought of sending a young female to death row.
PocketFullofPosies~
How in the world will the court be able to find unbiased jurors?
This is an issue. As much as I loathe the Anthony family and Casey in particular, I definitely believe that everyone is entitled to and deserves a fair trial, including Casey. This case is known world wide so a change of venue outside of Orlando isn’t going to make much of a difference. I do believe, however, that they will find jurors who, under oath, can swear to be impartial and fair regarding the evidence presented before them – at least I hope so.

Yes, I do recall that the last trial date was set for October 2009, but that was wishful thinking even before the death penalty being out back on the table. The amount of State’s witnesses alone that need to be deposed is 100+ I believe. I highly doubt that could be accomplished in the remaining 6 month time frame and now that the death penalty is involved, defense has to secure a first chair attorney that is qualified to try a death penalty case.

Well the State of Florida executed Aileen Wuornos and Judias Goodyear Buenoano. While neither were as young as Casey, I do believe the nature of Casey’s crime is going to be a deciding factor, no matter what her age. I least I hope so.
I also heard/read that soil particles that were found on Casey’s shoes matched the soil where Caylee was found. Forensics are fascinating and this is definitely going to be a trial all about science, IMO.
Moon,
I was going to go into this long-ass diatribe about everything that
is wrong with this “person”, and I use the term loosley.
Your (notice the correct usage there; I’m EDUMACATED, y’all!), wonderful bloggers have stated everything that I wanted to say about it so much better than I ever could have. They didn’t even use the “C-word”. . . and I would have. . .
Moon, please never stop speaking out about child exploitation, and everything else that you feel strongly about. We all love you, and thank you for giving us all a voice.
Some are saying that Casey won’t get the death penalty due to a sympathetic jury. I don’t know about that. When they see and hear the evidence, I think that they will. That heart sticker over the mouth ran chills up my spine, and still does everytime I think about it. It shows psychopathic behavior and that this beautiful baby was nothing more than a thing to her mother. A thing that just got in the way of her good time.
I must still be asleep, LoL. Sorry Moon if you’ll delete this I’ll put it on a Jon & Kate forum.
Great post Moon. Keep up the good work. Thanks to the internet and the Amber Alert system, more people are aware of child abductions. George and Cindy are nuts and they are going to be on Oprah! Maybe it will be a joint show with Jon and Kate. I loved when George told Cindy to “shut up” after their depositions. During her depo, Cindy had such a smug look on her face and she brought her own video camera! I just wanted to punch her lights out, no wonder Casey turned out the way she did.
And the death penalty is now on the table for Casey. That pathetic and incompetent attorney Jose Baez will now not be the lead attorney, he is not certified to try a death penalty case. I am still scratching my head over how he is getting paid. As a former legal secretary, I know that depositions cost a lot of money, and I understand that he is planning to depose each state witness in the criminal case. So sad, a precious little girl dumped in the woods, left to rot. I wonder how Baez sleeps at night.
The “BLOG” technology is an astonishing thing! It brings out the crazies but it sometimes brings together people with inspired ideas that make our social society healthier, morally.
While it is too late to benefit the morally challenged Anthony family, I personally find it appalling their efforts to free a woman who murdered their sweet innocent grandchild in such a horrifying way. Why (if their efforts would pay off) would they even want her (daughter or NOT) living with them. She is the worse kind of cold-blooded killer! The entire family does not have a shred of decency that could be pieced together among them!
Sorry, I’ve already convicted her ……. the evidence is overwhelming!
SO, instead of letting their daughter pay for her crime against their innocent flesh and blood, they would rather make-up stories to free her by using the “shred of doubt” loop hole defense. I can only hope they do not succeed!
Cut on the Diagonal~

I agree and I agree if this was not such a heinous murder against a child – her child, then they probably would not even seek the death penalty. But her actions from the get go before and after she was indicted and the actions of the parents and brother Lee have contributed negatively to this case. I truly do not think that the jury is going to be sympathetic should they come to a guilty verdict.
Now George and Cindy go on the “Create Reasonable Doubt Tour” starting with an appearance on Oprah, but I really don’t feel that it is going to have the impact that they are seeking. As a matter of fact, I feel that it is going to hurt Casey in the long run. After the body was found, these folks should have simply laid low until the trial, IMO.

SO, instead of letting their daughter pay for her crime against their innocent flesh and blood, they would rather make-up stories to free her by using the “shred of doubt” loop hole defense. I can only hope they do not succeed!
In my opinion, they will not be successful as they are as transparent as she is. As I said up thread, they should have simply laid low once the body was found and confirmed as Caylee’s. I mean the day before they found the body, George and Cindy appeared on Larry King Live spouting off that they were in CA to investigate and Caylee sighting and went on and on to Larry about how they were watching certain people and they couldn’t say much for the safety of the family. How interesting that all of that talk ceased once the body was found, eh?
I can’t get over how dysfunctional this family is. Casey is somewhat a product of her environment. That however, does not excuse her murdering her own child. There is also something about Cindy that really sends shivers down my spine. I can’t explain it. I just hope that justice for Caylee is swift. But, we all know how appeals go, and this will drag on for years.

Yes, particularly if she is sentenced to death. Someday, however, there will be justice for that innocent child.
I watched this family on Nancy Grace and the thing that strikes me as odd, is Cindy has complete control over every situation. She details how, when, where, for every TV appearance. She is always impeccably dressed, hair coiffed, makeup looking fresh faced. I think I would look like grim death if my family was in this situation. And, I had never heard of xanax being referred to as zanny, but it makes sooo much sense, and made me feel a little sadder for that poor beautiful baby. May she rest in peace.
Total sidenote, I also agree with a commenter that said NG did not only post missing white girls, she has also been trying to help a Hatian family in Florida find their developmentally challenged little boy, Adji. Incidentally, I found your site today, with the help of TVSnark…who should get thanks. I love this site. New favoite!!

Yes, she has been trying to find Adji and every other child that has gone missing; she is color blind as are most that give a flying F about missing children.
Glad you found it here, Diane.
I knew you’d like it.
