This seems to be the case, as least for now.
I have said numerous times on Musings that I would support almost anything that Kate Gosselin did for viable work as long as her kids were not involved in any way, shape or form, including using them or their images for marketing products, and I still feel that way, actually.
Although I have to say that the thought of designers, young or otherwise, that have actually gone to design school and paid their dues missing out on an opportunity to design in favor of Kate Gosselin, a person that doesn’t even, through her own admission, craft, doesn’t sit well. Perhaps an up an coming has gotten a well deserved break after all.

While the fall clothing line is still available at Walmart, Gosselin’s involvement has come to a halt for the foreseeable future with no date for her return currently slated.

The fact that she was calling herself a ‘designer’ and a ‘crafts expert’ was nauseating from the get go. If she’s got the credentials for that then I could certainly design and build skyscrapers. That’s what kills me about these ‘celebrities’ who have clothing, furniture, etc. lines who don’t have anything to do with the creation or production of said items. Other people are doing the creative work and they’re the ones taking the credit. Can you imagine that bitch sitting in on a business meeting discussing ‘her’ product? Oh, I’d love to be a fly on the wall.

And based on Preesi’s excellent research, the “clothing line” items have been sent overseas to be dumped on innocent, unsuspecting Indonesians! This is hysterical!!! She doesn’t have a fucking “career.” Not only is she a vile bitch scammer and all-around evil entity (I can’t even call her a person!), but she has not ONE IOTA of talent of ANY kind in her ENTIRE body. OH – sorry, I forgot – she has a magical uterus. Maybe she should will it to the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia so it will be preserved for future generations to look at in awe and wonderment. What a fucking loser.
I forgot to add that I think the kids are moving toward a shot at a normal life. Normal in that the cameras will be gone. They are still stuck with the bitch from hell as a mother and frat boy as a father. But, Judge Tilson may set some parameters on how the kids’ situation is to be handled. Maybe people “banned” from their lives will start to trickle back in.
I do hope that this line is discontinued permanently on not just temporarily. Of all the corporations in existence, Walmart is one of ones I despise the most. I won’t shop there whether Kate is involved or not but the thought of Walmart even indirectly making money of the Gosselin children gives me nausea.
What an excellent development. Onward and upward. Time for the sponsors of the show to drop. Then that will be it.

These Companies wasted little time AND they waited until things quieted down so to slip under the radar when dumping her.
I highly doubt the “Kate Gosselin” lines will rear their exploited heads again. The book may surface only because Zondervan most likely gave her an advance. That and they have time, marketing, editing and printing costs to make up for.
I had no qualms about her earning her own living based on her reputation and expertise. While divorce may have hurt her perfect wifey image, many with less than Kate survive it professionally.
SO, since the exploitation and fraud issues did not seem to bother these corporations before it has to be the public spanking. Her downfall is her out of control behavior, rumored, though skillfully hidden.
While your reputation/expertise is being the ideal mother, she knowingly commits one the most socially controversial acts in front of public/cameras (that she knows are there, YET!) without any remorse. Then further condones her blatant harsh actions. The CO’s may have finally realized what a ticking time bomb she was. Clear the area!
I’ve always found that Kate’s real problem is she is not a likable person. I know …. I know … someone like Rachel Ray is a bitch too but, on TV RR at least appears to be lovable! Kate could never get that act down.

Jeanna – I have to agree with you. She is simply not likeable AT ALL. I think if she had some appeal to her she could honestly attempt to make a living as some sort of tv personality, but (IMO) she appears to put herself above everyone else. I believe her PR people have told her to soften it up, be more motherly, etc. but she’s incapable of faking it in any believable form. I don’t feel one bit of sympathy for her. I’ll reserve all of that for the kids and the dogs.

Her past image is what helped her become famous and appealing to family friendly companies. Her supermom, humble, meekish, religious image pretty much mezmorized many of us in the beginning and that helped sell many products along with the kids cuteness in the mix. She really played it off well for the world.
Her current image: Kate started showing her true colors as the episodes went along. Jon bashing, questionable treatment of the kids, extreme physical transformation, self importance, self indulgence, etc.
Well, the media and especially the paps……got a hold of the TRUE Jon and Kate………….and boom, all kinds of image busting crap goes flying across the internet. Their little scam was discovered and Jon & Kate just fueled the media fire. Now they are getting divorced and they are not the image of the perfect little loving family. Kate looks more like a sex kitten than a mom of 8.
The reality is that these companies at risk of losing customers, cannot keep someone like Kate around for business, especially in this economy.
She has tarnished her saintly, supermom image to Healthtex, Zondervan, Walmart, and probably more companies are going to drop her. I think she is paying her dues for selling her soul to the all mighty dollar. I hope she has a dollar left to pay for her soul when all this is said and done!

If you are not a reader, then how do you know one cannot read via email, in an online chat, or over the phone? Because the person in your family tells you so or………………………….. ? What I find so fascinating about this entire situation is that there are so many fans out there who find her not only likeable…but loveable, wonderful, etc. I have such a difficult time trying to comprehend what they are seeing. I just don’t get it….do they create a fantasy out of reality?
Their identification with her definitely reaches unhealthy limits. And another thing that stuns me a bit is their rage regarding their assumption that it is the non-fans who are creating all Kate’s recent problems. How can they give the non-fans so much power? Every celebrity has non-fans…that goes with the territory. The success or failure of any celebrities rests on their own behavior and has little to do with what any non-fans or critics might think. Even wildly successful box-office hits have critics.
It is Kate who has brought herself down….with her own behavior. It is Kate and only Kate who is responsible for what is happening to her. The opinions of non-fans would be basically irrelevant if Kate herself was behaving and acting in a way to maintain her success. This intense rage that the fans seem to have…that just by our mere thoughts, we are bringing Kate down….is just mind-boggling to me.

Kate is NO Martha. Martha is a bitch but for some reason, many of us still like her.

I think that Zondervan has invested too much time and money into the “cookbook” to completely let it die. A title and cover are usually the last things to be set in stone–they can re-work the cover and re-title it–maybe edit out any cute “happy family” anecdotes and replace them with “healthy” eating tips. My guess is they’ll work the “healthy” angle instead of the “family” angle. I don’t wanna give them any ideas, though, lol.
As for Kate, yes, IMO she is unlikeable–so whatever she does will be tainted with my perception of her. Honestly, though, if she stops exploiting her children and using the myth of a “struggling, but happy family” or a “not perfect, but trying her best mother” to make a living, I will shut up.
I won’t ever be a fan–but it’s a free country–I don’t like to watch Martha Stewart, but I don’t care is anyone else does (she reminds me of an Aunt that when you go to visit her, you’re afraid to touch anything in her “perfect” house–she makes me uncomfortable,lol). Martha Stewart, however, DOES have a good eye ( an art degree) and she is obviously a shrewd business and marketing person in her own right– I just don’t know if Kate, as shrewd as she is, is that smart.

Exactly! Martha has been working on her brand before there was such a thing. She did step over many people on her way up (which i did not like) but for some reason, I still like her. I do not watch her new show that often. I like watching the old Martha shows on Fine Living.
Her daughter Alexis is a hoot with her friend. They have that show Whatever Martha on Fine Living. They totally make fun of Martha. The shrewd part about that..all Martha`s idea! She has her blessings.

I do not think Kate would be all for Joel having a show that makes fun of his Mom in the distant future. But I would watch it!
So criticism of Kate’s appearance is not ok, yet she can refer to her children as “filthy”, “disgusting” and make faces about the state of their hair, teeth, nails…I could go on. THAT behavior by a mother towards her children on national television is ok, but someone makes a snarky comment about Kate’s hair or cellulite on a blog and THAT’S offensive?
The problem with Kate and most people who follow her is really a very messed up system of values and priorities. God forbid we make a funny about cellulite when we could be watching reruns of Kate berating her own precious children! What ever were we thinking?! A mother’s priority should be on promoting her children’s good qualities and boosting their self-esteem, especially considering the unusual circumstance of this being recorded for posterity and being broadcast to the world now and in reruns and DVDs. I would feel simply awful as a mother to know that I had embarrassed my children in any way like that. Kate not only feels no shame, she revels in it. She plays it up to the camera. She cares more about that lens than the effect of what she says to it has on her children.
So do I feel somewhat justified in cracking on her goofy hats, total lack of fashion sense and awkward man-ish stance? Abso-f***-in-lutely! She wants attention? There, Kate…here ya go!
Keep in mind, peeps, we wouldn’t be able to critique anything aout Kate if she didn’t foist herself and family on television for the almighty dollar at her childrens’ expense in the first place.
I think LisaMarie’s right. Kate’s scheduled appearances this fall are all being promoted as a forum on raising healthy kids (I know, Kate doesn’t seem to know the meaning of irony) so the rebranded healthy cooking cookbook would fit in with that. I think Zonderan’s just going to let the headlines die down and then sneak in the cookbook without a lot of fanfare.
I am a reader by trade (so I think I have a right to put in my two cents here) and to say no one can read via email is the most absurd statement I ever heard. One of my King James Bibles is a published product from Zondervan. It is clear that J&K looked for a publisher via their website and that “Christian” publisher picked them up. It is also odd to note that the web owner of sixgosselins has disabled archieve viewing of the site by use of a robot.txt. Hmm strange is it not?
My question is would a secular publisher have invested in her work? Zondervan used Kates’ image as a Christian mother, a part of a loving family to promote her work, now with a marriage in crisis can they go forward? If they do, definately a new title would be in order. They like many other people looked to J&K and the popularity of their show to promote a product, theirs’ being books. Same with any other sponsors of the program. To me if the show tanks then all exposure is gone for J&K and they will become Middle America, they just have 8 kids. Zondervan may be at a stage where they can cut their losses and halt production. Better that, than to spend money to publish a book to an ever dwindling crowd of viewers.
I think personally without knowing her contract agreement it would be a little odd to promote a clothing line with Walmart. All the while as their children dressed in Gymboree clothing dance through KMart for the St. Judes episode. I would have dropped that sponsorship immediately had I worked for Gymboree.
Enough is never enough for Kate she basically said that herself, and that I feel will be her undoing.
Moon I think Kate Gosselin is in a catch 22 situation regarding future work or opportunities. We all agree I think J&K + Eight showcased her Jon and the children. So did her first two books. If published so will the third. Her children have been the draw from clothing, Johnson & Johnson, Juicy Juice to Crooked Houses. Not defending her but she is now much like an actor or actress type cast in a role. Can she ever get away from being the mother of sextuplets? Who would notice her outside of this backdrop.
Finally with all the news as of late regarding endorsements and books I think this does not bode well for the show. I think Kate is going to struggle to keep this show going as a source of income maybe the last of sources. For all the fans that read here Kate said it all when she said they did the show to provide for the kids. So like it or not the kids provided their own support willingly or not so in that vain they have been exploited.

If you check the PA registry for licensing of healthcare professionals, Take’s license iis good through October 2009. I checked a while back and am wondering if she will renew it come October. This is a question for you RNs out there – if you fail to renew your license when it comes up for renewal, is it true that you have to “go back to school” for some courses and retake the state RN licensing examination? Someone told me this once a long time ago in another context and I do not know if this is true. Or – does it vary from state to state?

I don’t necessarily LIKE Martha, but I can respect her for what she’s done. Unlike Katie Irene, Martha has worked her butt off ( it is well known that she is a workaholic and only sleeps 3-4 hours a day), is actually very talented and creative and didn’t pimp her daughter . She made some poor choices, yes, and paid her debt to society.
I don’t watch Martha’s show ( I cannot stand the way she talks) or buy her books, but I don’t loathe her the way I do K8.
Just in terms of talent, comparing Kate to Martha Stewart, IMO, is just as comical and ridiculous as comparing Sandra Lee to Martha Stewart.
But more important, I think, is that even though Martha may have some narcissistic qualities and may, on occasion, do some unlikeable things, she DOES know how to be kind, gracious, magnamimous and humble when the situation calls for it. She is able to have the same perception most sane humans do….whereas Kate cannot.
Most people will forgive someone if they show true redemption…but the best Kate can dredge up when attempting humility is to sniff, pout, play poor me, and blame it on the other guy.
Some savvy PR person told them both to shut the hell up….as this is the ONLY way to manage the situation. They had to include Jon, I’m sure, or she would have been out talking again if he said anything….but the idea was to shut her up, I’m sure. Because trying to have Kate pretend to be anything close to likeable is clearly impossible.

Personally, I would like to see Jon and Kate succeed both personally and professionally. I just want them to do it without exploiting their children. Now I have no idea how they are going to do that given the choices they have made but I think it is possible that people can change and learn from their mistakes. I think people deserve second chances and that includes the two of them. That being said, I don’t have much hope for this situation. It’s just sad to me more than anything.

There’s a principle or a rule that goes something like….people will be promoted to their level of incompetence….and it amazes me how true this often is. It is reported that there were actually financial experts on Wall Street who didn’t see the crash coming. Out of all the probably thousands of excellent potential candidates, Bush and Palin ended up at the forefront politically. And despite the fact that executives at multiple corporations should have clearly seen that they were dealing with an unlikeable and out-of-control narcissist, they actually believed that Kate Gosselin had HUGE potential.

I know what you mean. I wondered that myself. I have to conclude that BM’s statement, “Her clothes do well,” is merely a product of her (BM’s) intricate delusional system.
My son is a nurse and they have to have so many educational points per year. In other words, they have to take certain classes whether it be at the hospital or off campus to keep current on medical equipment or procedures. He said equipment is constantly being updated. He is an ICU nurse. I know he just took a 2 day class to learn a new dialysis machine and received some education points from that. I’m not sure this is required in PA. I’ll have to ask him about the license.
I really can’t picture her ever gong back to nursing.

I am not a major Martha fan, though I do enjoy the photography in her magazine (I was given an unsolicited subscription by a well meaning relative last year). Any way one dices it she is a brilliant mind, particularly when it comes to business. She is also a talented designer/cook. Obviously she has a slew of designers on her team, but she also has an inherent talent for design that cannot be denied. She built her empire on her true talent, not by selling her children to the media.
Kate doesn’t have a design bone in her body and certainly isn’t savvy regarding business. If she was, she wouldn’t have continued to parade herself and her children around and talk to any and all media once the shit hit the fan.

ILB, the weather in PA has sucked pretty much this last week, from oh, Sunday on. We’re barely breaking 60 at this end of the state. Could be she’s not as insane as we think.

I was trying to start a website on them (strictly links to all reputable news sites) months back and was planning to use links of their “old” site to show their pattern of begging (sorry – PRAYING) for merchandise to fall in their laps. I’m wishing now that I had grabbed screenshots since the Internet Wayback Machine cannot hack past that robot.txt….poop! (course I have no free time either! – but I wanted that for evidence dangit!)
As for Kate every being a spokesperson of ANYTHING, whoever her PR person is/was SHOULD have sent her for public speaking lessons months ago…. no one likes to listen to all those “………um……………um……….” and horrendously horrendous words she invents.
The personality she projects is not a perky fun and bouncy person for consumers to like – she looks like a tan MILF who is in love with her own image. Perky and fun is exactly how Rachel Ray and Paula Deen and the like have tv shows – they are well spoken (scripted too!) and they can speak off the cuff when needed….and not sound like they just woke up and don’t care about the topic.
I could never see Kate taking the time that even Martha (whom I watch occasionally) does to have some questions ready for her guests on her shows… Martha comes off stiff but prepared to me. I know she has well-trained staff making sure she looks ready….Kate would need an army!
Either way Kate couldn’t fake it well enough to make it. And I agree that she stole from designers to “design” the vaunted clothing line and plagarized others to make those books. For all we know, that book was the first draft from Beth and once Kate pushed her out so Jon could be listed as a “co-writer” no futher polish was given. Or the publisher wanted that “aw shucks I can’t really write….” motif. Either way, they were both poorly composed products.

I saw the Rachael Ray episode with Gosselin promoting her clothing line. Seems there was one or more episodes with Jon and Kate talking about how Kate has no fashion sense and Jon had to pick out her clothes. Now, all of a sudden, Kate is amazingly, a clothing designer? NO WAY.
Also, on the Rachael Ray show, Kate was showing the sheeplings who adored her, how to make crafts at home to keep the kids busy. I think she made a paper airplane, a boat out of produce cartons and a sail out of a popsicle stick. Such creativity. Makes me yearn for the days when someone comes up for an idea on how to freeze water into cubes and cool your sodas down in a glass, or better yet, I don’t think anyones thought of an idea where we can put frozen food in a box, plug it in, set the timer for 10 seconds and it’s immediately thawed. Maybe, Kate will come up with these ideas too.
P.S. Kate Gosselin has already gone green, cooks organic, recycles, buys local produce, can squeeze a penny so tight you can hear Abe Lincoln gasping for air. Her next claim, She invented the internet.

If Kate holds true to the statement issued on their website and, the statement issued on the TLC site, then she would be silent on the issue. One of the selling points of this Womens show is to hear her side. She will discuss what is tabloid truth and myth. This is exactly why IMO these two seem to be in hot water with alot of people. If they want to speak out thats fine, remain silent thats fine as well. But they have a history of say this, do that, claim this, while the fact is very different. Keep your initial word Kate and remain silent.
