The Last Episode of “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” Thread

And the end is here! Tonight marks TLC’s last attempt (at least for a while) to squeeze every last cent it can from the phenomenon that is “Jon and Kate Plus Eight”. A seemingly innocent “documentary” about a couple from Pennsylvania with twins and sextuplets.
It was anything but innocent, or a documentary for that matter, as we have seen and will see further as the lawsuit of TLC against Jon Gosselin and their corporation (the children in essence) and Jon’s countersuit plays out.
But as for the show? It is O.V.E.R. and I highly doubt that we will see those 8 innocent children again on TV in this type of genre. TLC would be stupid to try and resurrect that show. It will never bring them the money that it did at one time and I am not too sure that the (slimy) sponsors would find it lucrative enough either.
TLC has shown to the lay person how repulsive they truly are and how they would stop at nothing to capitalize on a family’s demise. The parents are just as much to blame, no doubt, but as “The Learning Channel” they certainly have given pop culture a lesson in how to highlight a family’s break-up and capitalize on it to the highest degree.

My questions/letters of long ago and far away last August to the Governor of PA and the PA Labor Department regarding clarification of the PA laws regarding children working in general and children working in entertainment and how they applied to the Gosselin children went unanswered. I was not surprised. Now Jon’s attorney is asking those same questions in a countersuit and finally they will BE answered. It is my hope that through this suit comprehensive laws regarding the use of children in “reality” TV will be defined in that State. I am appalled, but again not surprised, that this family filmed and was filmed without the proper permits for the children and location. If you read the PA statutes regarding child labor, they were required. Actually none of the children should have been allowed to work AT ALL because of their age – well they could have by special permit, but those permits would have drastically reduced the hourly time that they could work, and the duration as well. So no one bothered to abide by the PA law and decided to keep on breaking it. Now that the shite has hit the fan, it will all come out. While TLC left it to the parents to get the permits per their contract, I agree with Attorney Hostage (love that name!) that the onus was really in the hands of Discovery/TLC to make sure that they, as a television conglomerate, did their filming legally. Quite frankly, I think that both Jon and Kate and TLC decided together to forgo the work permits because they both knew what type of restrictions that would result from it and tried to hide behind the idea that this show was a documentary. Well, that if true (which it is not and Jon has proved from his Affidavit), that still does not relieve them of the legal, not to mention ethical, burden of making sure when it came to minor children, that they followed the law regarding the children’s labor.
I ultimately believe that TLC will settle with Jon, though I do hope that the suit goes as far as it can to completely expose TLC and their practices. Children are not chattel to be bought and sold to the highest bidder and it is about time that someone pays again for this practice. There are child labor laws enacted for a REASON. To protect children from people that used them as cheap labor and to be profited off of.
It is the end of Jon and Kate Plus Eight and hopefully the beginning of the end of children in “reality” TV – or at the very least, the beginning of comprehensive laws to protect said kids while their parents are happily selling their childhoods.

Beautifully written, Moon. It is hard to believe that parents could be so blinded by the sight of money and fame that they would sacrifice their children’s childhood for it. And yet they claim, my kids come first. Wonder just how many times tonight one or both of them will say that.

Good. The kids deserve to be normal. When the Gosselin kids are older they will realize that they have nothing to show for this whole ordeal. A measly $10K is NOTHING. That is 1 year of school at a cheap university, when they are old enough for college it will be even more. AND anyway the kids deserve most of that money, not just a college fund.
I hope the Gosselin 8 sue TLC for this. TLC made millions off this family yet didn’t pay the kids a dime. What a pathetic network. And J&K are pathetic parents for not protecting their children.

FYI, David Zurawik from the Baltimore Sun will post a review of the show tonight. Then tomorrow at noon you can join in a live chat. I’m not watching because I just don’t and my husband HATES the show, but I do have my DVR ready. This is just too good to pass up. I guess the ratings will be up, but I can live with that because, as Kate said to Jon, “IT’S OVER.”
I fear that the episode ending this long, drawn out nightmare will have many viewers, which will give TLC the idea that they can proceed with a successful show for Kate ! Personally, I want to see TLC say NO KATE, we don’t have enough viewers to warrant you having your own show. Is it even possible, that they are just appeasing her until everything is settled? or Do they actually believe she is a major draw for them?
Pray this is the end of anything Gosselin ! Let these children have the life they deserve, not on a gold or silver platter, but a normal life. Although, I doubt that is possible.

I’m thrilled and thankful that this show is finished. Not for the two idiot people that proclaim to be loving parents, but for the 8 children that have had to endure 5 years of being filmed and talked about so much that IMO, they will probably be damaged forever.
I wish no harm to either of the selfish parents, I just hope and pray for peace for these children. I hope they will someday be able to go to school, stores and even a simple thing like going to Starbucks without cameras and a film crew stuck in their faces. They have known no privacy and that is just cruel to me.
I do fear for them in ways, I won’t even say. Mainly that they are stuck with a selfish fame-whore for a mother that doesn’t know what true love really is and probably never will.
As far as The Learning Channel and TLC, you can stick it where the sun don’t shine ! You, like Kate, will get your dues.
Whatever the two adult fucktards in this drama end up doing to support themselves and their family, I can only hope, that it will not, in any way,shape or form, include those kids.

Sorry, but I don’t think it will ever be over as long as Kate Gosselin has breath left in her. She will not just lay and die. In her mind she hasn’t lost a battle, but her career has Just Begun.

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you hate about Z. I love his site. He is one of the very few in the media who never cuts Kate any slack and sees her for who she is and calls her on it. I will definitely be reading his site and participating in the chat tomorrow.
As for me, my mind has been made up for a long time. I want this show over. But I also want to watch the last show and see how Kate handles it and how Jon is treated. I’ve watched from the beginning, stopped watching this summer, and plan to watch the end. I don’t care about the ratings because what difference does it make, it’s over whether we watch or not. So no, SH is not the only one who thinks differently than you do. To each his own.
I can’t stand Kate Gosselin. But whether I watch or not, she’s not going away. Just because the show as we know it is over tonight doesn’t mean she is going away. I wish she would, but she won’t. Remember he comment ‘I will never lay down and die’. I have never met a more hard headed, my way or the highway type person in my life. There will be many, many people still talking and blogging and writing about the Gosselin’s. It’s not going to stop.

Calling years of explotation and public abuse a documentary is like calling two grapes and a cracker a meal. The kids got ripped off big time. Paula always likes to be the ‘cut up’. I read the story and SHE is the one that threw the initial football/ham at the guy! LOL….I fell at my dtrs. house a few yrs. ago (freakish fall) and broke my nose in 3 places. Dr. told my dtr. I was going to hurt like heck in the morning…but I didn’t. I did have two shiners though! You know, two lines of Kate’s that absolutely drive me up the wall:
1. “This show has provided my kids with opportunities they wouldn’t normally have.” Ok, so what? What makes your kids so g-damn special that they should HAVE to have experiences like trips all over the country? I mean, most kids are happy with whatever their parents can do for them and some get vacations and some don’t. But her kids somehow deserve more. That’s always bugged me. Plus, half the stuff they’ve done is stuff anyone can do: farm, kid’s museum, pumpkin picking, Crayola, Chocolate World, etc, etc. She’s just pissed she has to pick up the tab, parent her children herself and can’t primp for the camera.
2. “This is my JOB, people.” What exactly is this JOB you speak of? You talk about yourself. That’s all you do. You talk, complain, whine, bitch, moan and make up stories about how hard your life is compared to other people. If talking about yourself is a JOB, then hell…..I should be getting paid everytime I look in a mirror!
So glad this chick will be gone for a little while….I think once the lawsuit is over, TLC will drop Katie Irene like a bad habit. I think it’s a ploy to keep her on their side and buy some time. Otherwise, why wouldn’t you go into production and airing of “her show” immediately and strike while the iron is hot? Scam….
Because Jon has to be her slave! That about sums up their marriage. These are some good memories to leave it at TLC. You know those ones of Kate bashing Jon and then Jon talking in a general context, then TLC finding a bad Jon clip.

The end of the show with the montage was very nice. Too bad TLC didn’t realize that’s what everyone tuned into see and not Kate talking about herself and bashing Jon.

Yes, I liked the montage too. I just don’t know why TLC thinks it is okay for Kate to bash Jon like she does. How can they possibly say she takes the high road when it’s absolutely not true? She makes me want to beat my head against the wall.
I just finished watching. It was just more of the same. Kate got to say whatever she wanted when she wanted to. Jon’s comments were not timely, they were filmed this past summer and had no relevance to the ending of the show. Kate’s pity party is what they should have called this one. It was a pure pleasure to watch her being forced to give up her gravy train. IMO, she made a statement about how she still wished Jon was in the drivers seat and she was in the passengers seat. She just would have changed positions as far as him taking responsibility and ’stress loads to shift’ — you know, from her shoulders to his. This one statement summed up the whole situation between them. She wanted it HER way, she wanted him to do it all her way, even if he disagreed with her. She is a controlling bitch, always has been, always will be. Everything would have been just fine and dandy if he would just have obeyed her when she said jump. She didn’t want someone stronger, she needed to be in control. Until the day she acknowledges that she is a controlling bitch shrew, things will never change and no one out there is going to want to step into her life. Thank God it’s over!!!!!
Geez,Kate was talking about Jon and his girlfriends and what she does and doesn’t tell the kids. This was on TV tonite from 9-11 p.m (same time as J&K)…..I highly recommend it watching the JFK documentary somehow, someway, much new news that I have never seen even after a lifetime of viewing documentaries about JFK and his assassination, ( I was 4 when he was killed)….once I clicked on this show I wasn’t even tempted to flip to TLC, it was mesmorizing and thought provoking …much more so than the usual conspiracy theories that those of my generation have grown up with ( I’ll catch J&k on the rerun) I highly recommend viewing of this documentary, it was fascinating .

At first glance I though it said “History Channel. The Lost J&K Tapes: The Assasination.” LMAO.
You know, part of me is wondering whether the show ending is going to end up being a bad thing. With the show Kate new she wasn’t totally irrelevant, but now they have to come up with constant new tactics to get in the media and stay current. The antics these two will get up to to stay in the media and get paid might be much worse over all than the kids filming their episodes. I dunno……
In some ways I think the ending of this show can be bad for the kids. The film crew was the only real people they had in their lives. Now they’ll have no one. And at least it was something stable in their life, a constant. But now that too is taken away and they’re life changed again. And in some ways I think the show kept their life somewhat in check, and prevented it from getting even worse. Kate can only be so much of a bitch when cameras are watching. Now these two parents can go at it like never before. So definitely good and bad things about it ending. Not to mention they will now become broke, due to the law suits and their poor money skills and unwillingness to get jobs. Which thus leads the kids to being broke. So IMO there was just no good ending to this no matter what.
I always wanted them to work things out and get back together. Where else can they ever find a job that thaty can stay at home, and still be with the kids, and make millions of $$$$ ? I wanted the old Jon to call her, and ask her to talk, and get back together for the kids Christmas surprise. They really do love each other, but are too stubborn to tell it. If they do become broke, it is their own fault – no one elses. And yes, the only sad part about that would be the effect on the children and the fact that the kids may not have one cent to show for all of THEIR hard work and robbed childhoods. Not to mention all the crap that they will have to take in their lives because of the actions of their numbskull parents.
The show was not going to last forever regardless, so the children were not going to have the crew in their lives forever. Further, it has been mentioned on the show and in media as well that they have been through a great deal of crew. The crew was never stable to begin with, so quite frankly, not having an ever revolving crew just may start some true stability in their lives of school and activities and normal everyday stuff that most kids enjoy – kids being kids with birthday parties and sleepovers and movies with your friends. I tried to watch the show, but after 2 minutes of Kate’s bullshit-on-a-chair, decided to re-set my Thanksgiving table. I am grateful to Moon and all you fabulous, witty and wise women whom I believe raised the public’s consciousness about the exploitation of children in reality TV. This is the end we had all hoped for. Perhaps the children will now enjoy some normalcy, although I suspect their crazy Mother will drag them into the headlines one way or another. Jealous of their house? It’s a starter castle. I’ll take my 2400sq ft home over that anyday of the week. I live in a home, not a production studio. Their “home” is a stark magazine layout. My children have a sense of belonging (not entitlement) My children have parents who, when they decide to get an animal (dog and two cats) they take care of the animals. They don’t give the animals away after the cute puppy, kitten stage is over. My children have no idea what a nanny is and have never, ever called another woman “mom”. My children are blessed that Daddy and Mommy show love to each other everyday. My children have hot, cooked meals every night. My children drink milk daily (even though we are not rich). Jealous of Jon, Kate and the eight….I think not.
It was very telling last night when toward the end of the show Kate said “I use to get annoyed at all the fans.” or something to that effect. I don’t have a DVR to record the show so I can’t recall what she said after that little tidbit. Another slip of the tongue for Miss. Katie Irene.

In a raw and sure-to-be controversial audio recording taped Michael Lohan, Jon Gosselin rants against TLC and expresses disgust because “I put my kids out there to every pedophile on the planet and they never got paid for it.”
The recording was obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com and includes Jon explaining that he began speaking freely in public because he thought TLC was afraid of him.
He accuses the network of taking money for deals with two magazines and is angry that they didn’t share the wealth. It’s clear that Jon believes his (supposed) knowledge of these deals means TLC will not stop him from talking – and making financial deals. He says “They haven’t said (bleep).”
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 former star claims TLC got paid in a side deal and says “I put my kids out there to every pedophile on the planet and they never got paid for it? It’s disgusting”
Jon then laments that he didn’t start speaking freely months ago and explains he held off because “They (TLC) tried to scare tactic me.”
But by the time this recording was made several months ago it’s clear that Jon will no longer be “Scare Tactic-ed” and he says if he reveals that the network took money for the magazine deals the network would take a big financial hit.
“If that information became public, can you imagine? Their stock would tank,” Jon says.
RadarOnline.com has confirmed that contrary to Jon’s belief, TLC was not paid for either magazine interview, both of which were done for publicity.
Jon’s recorded conversation took place months before TLC proved his assessment of their inaction wrong by filing a breach of contract lawsuit against him and hiring one of the best law firms in the country to press the matter. The show aired its final original episode Monday after Jon withdrew permission for the network to film his children.
The recording comes at a key early point in Jon’s battle with TLC and is a phone call with Michael Lohan, who worked various financial deals with Jon – deals that TLC says violated the exclusivity portion of Jon’s contract.
Jon appears concerned about that clause early in the conversation, when he talks about evading photographers. But as he continues talking, Jon reveals that everyone knows he is now talking freely and makes it clear that he thinks he has TLC afraid to stop him.
It’s pure Jon uncensored on the tape where he also dismisses his time with Kate Major and talks about how she complained he made her look bad. “You know like you know we hung out,” he explains. “Still don’t get it. (Bleep).
He also discloses that his relationship with Hailey Glassman began May 4th.
“I’m not stupid,” he says at one point to Lohan, who is scheduled to be deposed by TLC’s law firm, Williams & Connolly.

I just don’t understand how Mike Lohan can get away with recording phone conversations. Why is he getting a pass on this from Jon Gosselin, his daughter, his ex-wife, and who knows who else? Is it up to the party who’s been recorded to press charges or for the prosecutors office in the state where the recordings took place to take interest in the crimes he’s committed? I just don’t get it.

Then we see Kate, the queen of mean, berating her son Aaden for crying, telling him to be a man. And there are the little money makers gorging on organic milk, and only because it is sweetened with chocolate syrup. Kate saying these calories are sufficient for them to go without dinner that night. Yes, Kate, we can see you restrict food and control their caloric intake. Way to raise binge eaters. We see Kate cuddling the kitty while holding it out of the Tups reach who clamour almost ravenously to hold that kitty. So starved they are off cuddling and affection. We see the nanny, face blurred out, another person Kate refuses to let filmed for payment. Couldn’t get through the hour, it was all crap.

I’ve already forwarded this information to Paul Petersen and he emailed me last night… let this be a catalyst for positive change.
Please everyone take a look at her brief…. it is what we have all wished and hoped for – we may well have to be the footsoldiers with our own legislators to get this enacted.
I’m grateful that the show is over, and I pray no reconcilation/epiphany/etc caused those kids to have to be used as fishbowl fodder again – but there are always more families on the horizon that TLC and its greedy vile ilk will attempt to exploit.
Watched the last 15 minutes to see how it would all “end”. I should’ve known better. Kate talking in doublespeak again–the woman could get a job in PR or as a political speech writer (unless it was all written for her, and of course, this show is not scripted–ha).
I found it very telling that the real tears came when speaking of the show ending “too soon.” On the contray, my dear, not soon enough! She also said that he never had a clear picture of how it would all end (the show)–that’s because in her deluded little mind she thought the show would go on indefinitely, or at least until the tups were in college. Poor planning on Kate’s, part–no TV shows last that long (except maybe the Tonight Show and Oprah). Ratings and book sale royalities are never guaranteed. They over-extended themselves financially. The divorce and TLC’s lawsuit against Jon won’t help matters any.
Kate made it sound like because the show is over, the kids won’t be able to go anywhere or do anything–whaaaa? Take them on age appropriate outings, Kate–you don’t have to go to Hawaii, Utah, or Bald Head Island to do it, either. Not to mention the 26 acres in your back yard that the kids can run and play in–that’s what 5 year olds do.
Then, of course, more Jon-bashing while saying she’s not Jon-bashing. Just because you SAY you aren’t doing something, Kate, doesn’t mean you’re NOT doing it.
I turned it off during the sappy video montage with appropriately sappy music. The “happy” memories in the future for these children will hopefully not be caught on camera.

Jon and Kate Gosselin aren’t the only ones haggling over their property … we’ve confirmed a tax lien was slapped on the happy couple’s Pennsylvania homestead to the tune of $2,691.75.

It seems the Gosselins had a water problem — specifically, an unpaid “water tapping fee” for the home they have in Lancaster County. The fee is for tapping into the city water line.

PHILADELPHIA – The tax man is after Jon and Kate Gosselin in Lancaster County over a $2,700 unpaid water bill.
Court records show the county has placed a tax lien on the Gosselins’ house on Andrew Avenue in Elizabethtown, Pa.
The municipal tax lien was filed in the Prothonotary Office for $2,691.75 plus fees and interest for a “water tapping fee” in Upper Mount Joy Township.
According to the couple’s arbitration agreement, Kate Gosselin is responsible for paying for water and sewer bills out of a joint checking account. This is a different account that Jon Gosselin was accused of withdrawing money from.
The same agreement says the couple has a $15,000 a month debt obligation related to their two houses and each parent must contribute $7,500 a month.
The house was built in 2006 for Jon and Kate Gosselin, but they bought a second house last year in Wernersville, Pa., for $1.1 million without selling the house in Lancaster County.
The Elizabethtown, Pa., house is still on the market.
Both Jon and Kate Gosselin are defendants in the case.
In October 2009, MyFoxPhilly(dot)com first reported that the family also may have a mortgage on the Elizabethtown house, according to county records.
The brick Cape Cod in Elizabethtown, Pa., was bought by the Gosselins for $280,000 in 2006.
According to Lancaster County deed and mortgage records, the mortgage on that house was $193,000 from the National City Mortgage, and the mortgage obligation was for Jonathan and Katie Gosselin (not a family trust).
The most-recent check of county records show that the mortgage has not been satisfied, as of October 5.
The documents for their current houses were filed in Berks County in October 2008.
Their current $1.12 million estate in Wernersville, Pa., was actually purchased in the name of estate lawyer William R. Blumer as part of a Revocable Trust Agreement last October.
The trust is registered to the same address used by Jon and Kate Gosselin in their divorce case. Such a purchase by a trust is common in estate planning when couples wish to avoid probate issues.
But the 6,000 square-foot house and its 24 acres weren’t paid for entirely in cash in October 2008. There is a mortgage that is quite substantial.
The mortgage with Susquehanna Mortgage is also in the name of the estate and it is for $720,000 over 10 years.
As of October 5, the mortgage had not been paid off.
It is unknown if the Gosselins or the trust paid into the principal on the loan in the past 12 months

I know how this lien thing works in regard to the water tapping fee. The same thing happened to us after we closed on our house. A bill magically appeared in the mail for $1000 from the developer in regards to tapping into city water. Unlike the Gosselins, we paid. We owed it, it just would have been nice to know about the fee before closing.
The lien, even if they write a check for it today or wait until it is satisfied from the house sale proceeds, will be reported on their credit reports for the next seven years. Yeah, ol’ Kate did a good job paying the bills. The downhill spiral begins. I predict Jon will be giving up his swanky NYC apt. and Kate will downsize to a mini McMansion.

I listened to the Radar tape of Jon. It’s my understanding he was outside with Hailey’s dog talking on his cell phone and someone recorded his conversation? This sounds like the work of a private detective using some surveillance equipment? Does TLC have him being tailed? I just can’t think of any other explanation since the recording does not have both conversations. Anyone have any other explanation?

Yes this is a two-edged sword. Many wished the “mainstream media” would take notice of what the blogosphere saw: two inept, dangerous parents who were exploiting their children.
Yet, GMA, ABC and NBC took them at their word, especially Kate’s word about their struggles and how things were. CBS was one of the few networks that gave the other side with Kevin and Jodi. No other network or show spoke up. Even with all the lambasting of the Heene family over the Balloon Boy incident…. minor references to J&K, but nothing solid.
Finally, we have a person who albeit an entertainment reporter – is a reporter at a reputable newspaper/internet outlet who is willing to tackle the beast – I say go for it. I’m willing to send him links to the articles we’ve all found about the history of the Gosselins: begging for items since the first ultrasound, the Medicare nurse, the “Home Delivery” tv show, etc.
Seen all together, it shows the true level of their grifter background. And I’m not a reporter, just an ordinary person who got drawn into all of this…. for the sake of the kids. I doubt this man will make piles and piles of money – but maybe his proposed book will start the national discussion about children’s rights and protections.

Yet the current legal regime is inadequate to protect these children, whose parents have betrayed their best interests for fame and fortune. This article argues that Congress should enact a statute providing a regulatory sliding scale based on age that would largely prohibit children from participating in reality programming. A federal statute would bring clarity to this unsettled area of the law while ensuring that parents and programming executives cannot skirt individual state laws and continue to exploit the nation’s children.
To this end, Part II identifies the various harms that reality programming causes and argues that participating in reality programming is detrimental both to the individual children and to society. Part III surveys the current legal landscape by examining the federal law on point–the Fair Labor Standards Act–and numerous state laws, focusing heavily on those states with historic ties to the entertainment industry. Part III concludes that the current legal regime is unable to remedy this emerging problem and argues that state law is not the best vehicle to do so. Part IV posits that a national solution is necessary, canvasses the options, and then argues in favor of a federal statute providing a sliding scale of prohibition for children in reality programming. Finally, Part V maintains that such a statute will not violate the Constitution because it is within Congress’s Commerce Clause authority and violates neither parents’ due process rights nor the First Amendment.

Actually, I believe that they got this down payment for the Etown house from the equity the received from the first house after the free remodel from their church and the “Home Delivery” show. Which, BTW, Katie was ungrateful for, but she sure liked the equity it brought.
As a member of the media I have been covering this story since almost day one. When I first went to the news conference in Hershey I was so excited for the Gosselins. They seemed liked good people and they had so many people really pulling for them.
However, as time went by they became, how do I say, unlikable. They no longer seemed genuine. They had such a transparent agenda.
I was at the house the day the television crew came to film “Home Delivery” and I was just appalled at things that were said by Kate once the cameras were turned off and she thought her voice couldn’t be heard. She complained about the nursery saying the murals would scare her kids and that the twin’s room was “horrendously horrendous”…a phrase I just can’t forget. She then went on to say “thanks for nothing…” I couldn’t believe my ears and I am not a naive person.
So, my advice to the Gosselins is…endear yourself to people….make them want to like you. You have become so very unappealing and just down right self-righteous. No one wants to help affluent self-righteous people when there are so many good people in dire straits that also need a hand. And, lastly, Kate stop talking….stop giving interviews, stop pleading for help, stop. You are beginning to sound a bit like a nut…a selfish, wish-you-could-change-your-mind kind of mother as well.

I’ll never understand when people have lots of money, why they don’t pay for their homes. To think that the money is always going to be there is quite risky, especially in this economy. If I had that kind of money, I would want to buy my house outright, even if it meant paying more in taxes. Just like some of the Real Housewives who have lost their homes. They spend all of this money on cars, clothes, cosmetic procedures, etc. yet can’t afford to keep their homes. Crazy.

I know a lot here don’t like Kathy Griffin, but in a interview I saw of hers when “My Life on the D-List” was becoming popular, she has stated when she was doing “Suddenly Susan” with Brooke Shields and that show was a hit, she bought her house outright. She figured that no matter what, she would always have a home, and if she ultimately needed to sell it, so be it, but it was hers outright. She still lives in that same home and has not upgraded (it is pretty large to begin with) even with her continued success. This lady has always worked her butt off and is a smart business woman and an even smarter investor. She knows that “fame” can be fleeting for even the most talented (Mickey Rourke anyone?) and you need to be smart about it, particularly with the money that you have made, so it lasts during dry/hard times.
gram, TLC is probably trying to find a way to blame Jon for this, even though Kate has stated that she was responsible for paying the bills.

Well, according to TLC/ROL the ratings for last night’s show were 4.3. While TLC/ROL are touting this as a ratings “success”, I beg to differ. This much touted finale did even draw twice as many viewers as last week’s 2.9, but it did not even come close to the wedding or the divorce announcement. Proof that the public is tired of the Gosselin saga.
Good luck finding a buyer for E-Town with a lien. A title search by the buyer’s title company would nix that deal. If they want to sell that house and get out from under the payment, clear the lien, drop the price and dump it! Why the heck they aren’t just getting rid of it is beyond me.
It’s been on the market for more than a year and they’ve had to pay a year’s taxes for sure (probably three payments actually) and twelve mortgage payments and costs to keep it heated and lit. For God’s sake, if they have a bit of equity, lower the price and get on with your life……
I think more people tuned into this last show, just to stay reminded one last time, as to what a bitch Kate really is.
Me ? I don’t need reminded, I have it all planted in my memory and I’m thankfull that I don’t live in Wernersville and have to see Kate at Target everyday.
Oh well, that won’t last long either. After all, she’s broke and can’t even pay her bills ! Looks like The Neilds will be bringing the Thanksgiving dinner.

We live outside of Rochester. It is pretty where we live, but the taxes are extremely high. We continue working on the house as we can, little by little, and hope to try and sell when the market stabilizes some – hopefully that will happen within the next 3-5 years or so.
I did well with my garden and have expanded it every year. It is a lot of work and there are no guarantees of a harvest, that is for sure, and it is humbling. When Hubs and I took a 5 day vacay to Philadelphia in August, I came back to a dead tomato crop due to late blight. That was a blow but a good learning experience and I will never go away again during growing season. I could have forced ripened/saved some of that crop had I been here.
I know that I can micro farm myself by putting in 8 hour days during the season and next year I will have a veggie stand in front of my home like a lot of the folks here. I am excited at that prospect

My husband and I bought a house through a tax sale shortly after we were married with the knowledge that the owners would redeem the house once the divorce was completed.
TLC really got their last big dig on air at Jon. Kate has had many Horrendouslyhorendous moments yet they chose to highlight Jon telling his kids to go inside after they had been having a bad attitude.

However, they are not union and neither is the show (or the children would have had protections all along and TLC/Figure 8 would have been on the up and up regarding work permits for the kids – they would have had to have been due to the union). Non-union shows are not required to pay residuals is my understanding.

While I am certainly not a Kate supporter, I can tell you that many people going through a divorce cannot pay bills because their money is tied up. My husband and I bought a house through a tax sale shortly after we were married with the knowledge that the owners would redeem the house once the divorce was completed.
I am assuming if Jon and Kate Gosselin can buy new cars, clothes, ATVs, the mortgage on their present house, etc. etc., etc. ad nauseam, they can pay their past due water bill.
Wow – reading the Eagle comments from 2005 was such an eye-opener!
How interesting that the comments and criticisms (and sheeple talk) are identical to these four years later. Of particular interest was coming across Jon’s 2005 comments to posters criticizing his “begging” personality. He really was a jerk from the get-go.
Also of interest was this comment from the (then) Pa. Governor at the b-day (1st) for the 6 – I was particularly interested in this exerpt:
“That is why, for my gift to the Gosselin Family on this very special occasion, I am opening accounts for all eight of the Gosselin children through the Tuition Account Program, which I had a hand in creating when I served as Pennsylvania State Treasurer.

Cat, I think their money issues stem more from what is readily available. Even in her “Today” show cryfest/sham/interview she said that there was “only $1,000″ in LIQUID ASSETS available to her. This implies, IRA’s, CD’s or other forms of financial stuff (that I cannot even afford mind you!) that cannot be touched without hefty penalties.
And since banks don’t take coupons….of course she is loathe to touch “THAT” money to pay for anything. In fact, depending on how slick they were, they could have all of the monies in trust accounts which technically are “not” theirs but belong to a trust. Weird stuff but true.

I believe the Gosselin kids already have college funding. When they were born the State gave them all free scholarships to any school in the state.

These accounts were set up by then LT. Gov. Katherine Baker Knoll, who had previously been PA State Treas, NOT the Gov. (she has since died of cancer) The state set up accounts for the tups, it did not fully fund them, that is why they were telling others how to donate. No one knows how much is currently in these accounts or if they are now fully funded. The accounts Kate set up for the kids are a joke. Someday she will be dipping into that money. IMO, if the ‘family’ income falls, these kids will get plently of financial aid. With that and student loans, they will be able to attend any reasonably priced (ie state university) if they have the grades and SAT scores to qualify. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the state schools didn’t offer the tups scholarships when the time comes. To me, it’s not worth worrying about, if these kids have the grades and determination/ ambition they will be able to attend college.

Unfunded college savings accounts were opened by PA for the tups (I don’t know about the twins.
The only way the accounts will be funded is by people making donations/contributions to them.

Well I would agree that there are tax benefits to having a mortgage, I am unsure if the tax benefits of having another home empty for a year in which you would still be paying the mortgage and property taxes would be a benefit – paying taxes and mortgages on two homes while one lies vacant. I certainly concede that I do not know the PA law on this nor am I an accountant but that sounds like a ball and chain to me, particularly if you don’t pay the bills on the empty house resulting in a lien on said home.
I don’t know what the story is regarding the kids’ college, and this sounds terrible, but I don’t care. Somehow, those of us who have college age children have managed to get our kids through college, sometimes with more than one enrolled at the time. I don’t know why the Gosselins should be treated any differently just because six were born at the same time. If the greedy parents didn’t set aside the money during the good times, then the kids will manage by getting scholarships or loans just like everyone else. Too bad, but I bet there’s not much put aside for those kids.

re a PA tax benefit with two mortgages – there isn’t any. PA does not follow the Federal rules with itemizing like so many other states do. Two mortgages & property taxes would only benefit the federal return. One problem, with their income, the itemized deductions would be limited (not receiving the full amount), same with the child tax credit. It IS possible with their tax situation they might also get hit with alternative minimum tax (he he he)

Last year or the year before Larry Birkhead (Anna Nicole’s Baby Daddy) was contacted by Barbara’s people and thought he was to be on the show. He invited a bunch of friends over to watch. He didn’t find out he would not be on the show until it aired. He sounded upset when asked about it.

Before the tabloid covers and interviews, Jon and Kate Gosselin were admired for their parenting of eight children. But they have become another example of how fame can deteriorate families.
The Gosselins, who live in Lower Heidelberg Township, were local celebrities before TV network TLC gave them a reality show. “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ started as a look into the life of a family with twins and sextuplets, documenting their daily routine. The viewers’ attention quickly turned to the argumentative parents. After months of speculation, the couple filed for divorce. Jon’s and Kate’s fame expanded as the media and public could not get enough of the stories of marital infidelity.
It is hard to believe that in August 2008, Jon and Kate were in a seemingly happy marriage, renewing their wedding vows on an episode for their show. Sadly, the explosion of attention has led to paparazzi following the family everywhere. Even worse, the kids who made the couple famous have been pushed into the background. “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ seems to be more about Jon and Kate than the eight, evidenced through episodes such as “Kate: Her Story.” The episode was a full hour of Kate answering questions about Jon and the future of the show.
Now there’s an investigation into possible violations of child labor laws. In September, TLC announced a revamped series with a reduced role for Jon. Jon then objected to having the children displayed on TV and filming of the kids was halted. It was announced last week that Monday’s episode of “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ was the final one. A spokeswoman for TLC said the network is focusing on Kate’s new show debuting in the spring.
Having eight children is stressful, but it is unfortunate that these two made their personal lives so public. Both parents should work out their issues and stop talking to the press. Too much exposure and the fame-seeking actions of the Gosselins have led many people to be annoyed and ashamed of them. Once a little-known family sharing their unique lives, the couple has lost the respect from their fans and others, falling from grace.
So they took out a 10 year mortgage on The Manor? DUMB! Why not take out a 30 year or 40 year mortgage and stretch those payments out to a somewhat more manageable amount? They could always pay extra toward the principal if they wanted to or could afford to, but once you sign on the dotted line that you will pay over 10 years, you’re stuck.
My dad made a similar mistake…he refi’ed his house to get a lower rate and did a 15 year instead of a 30 and now he regrets it. He works in commissioned sales, and I told him that if he did the 30 that didn’t mean he HAD to pay over 30 years, just that he had the OPTION to.

Show is over people…Let’s move on. We are rehasing the same ole bullshit. we wanted the show of the air for the sake of the kids – it’s off. Who cares about the mortgage etc. We have known for years about the college funds set up by the state.
And for the last time we do NOT know if she used clomid. The chances of using that and having 6 kids are miniscule. She probably used other fertility shot/drugs. None of us were in the doctor’s office with her and NONE of us know if she had overstimulated ovaries. I get sick of the insinuations as someone who went through fertility treatments. Why isn’t everyone attacking the McCauley’s and their 6 six? b/c they didn’t do a show? Does it mean everyone who has 6 babies at once had overstimulated ovaries? Then shouldn’t we “hate” them all??

Yes, the kids are off the show and this is a great outcome. The reason I believe that we are still talking about the Greedslin’s is that they opened the door, through their example, to make all that which is irresponsible, selfish, narcissistic, mean, avaricious, abusive, morally reprehensible, sleazy, scamming, etc. seem normal and acceptable to many people. For this, they will go down in infamy. And I do NOT believe Preesi is Dana Hoffman.

You are correct that she has never clearly said what she was on – she insinuated on her site that she was injected and of course they had IUI. She also stated on their site that she hospitalized for overstimulated ovaries.
Lastly, Ella, if people want to talk about the Gosselin fall out when there is a thread to do so, they will. You are welcome to your opinion as always, but please do not try and dictate to the other bloggers what they should and should not talk about in a thread that is clearly dedicated to talking about that topic, and further, I would ask you to refrain from attempting to dictate to me what or what not to post as entry material on my blog.

It was also addressed in her book Moon. She stated she had to leave the wedding of a family member because she was in a great deal of pain, correct? Actually fertility treatments have a better than 20% chance of multiples. Not that rare. Does it matter, well maybe not, in every situation. I think what the bloggers have seen and tried to point out is a continual distortion of the truth by J&K. Even last night comments and edit work was an further attempt to distort the truth, of what Kate has described as the realest of reality shows. In that context I think discussion of their honesty has always mattered. My issue with them has been this and how they used the churches for financial gain.
IVF has a 20% plus chance of multiples (depending on the number of embroys implanted). Using clomid and having IUI has around a 7% chance of even having twins. Any given month a woman has around a 2% chance of twins, so it is pretty minimal. I just really wish people would do their research on Infertility and the different types of treatment before making assumptions. Also I am not saying that Kate didn’t have overstimulated ovaries (if she said it then she did) I didn’t really finish my statement early my point was- if she had them we don’t know if she made Jon have sex with her. It would of been pretty damn painful. Anywho…..It just frustrates me.

I agree with you that Kathy Griffin is a smart business woman but really how many people pay for a house outright. Were the Gosselins dumb to buy that house – sure were. With what they put as a down payment they could of paid of their older home. Yes, they are fools – my point is how they spend their money isn’t about the “exploitation” of the children. The two are intertwined, though. There would be no show without the 8. The parents allowed and encouraged the show. The parents benefited with cars, a house, trips, book deals, and more.
While the parents called it “work,” the kids were “just living their lives.”
The parents have made a big deal lately about their compensation and share of the money from TLC, while at the same time only recently addressed the children’s trust accounts.
The kids on TV afforded the lifestyle for the family but there is no doubt to me that the way the parents spent the money they all earned was a part of the exploitation of the children. Expensive cars, apartments, agents, household help, a house for the family that is seemingly beyond their means once the show is done – that smacks of exploitation to me because these things aren’t in the best interests of the children who made it all possible in the first place.

No offense, but why are you here then? I mean, if you are over it and happy with the outcome and have nothing more to say, you have that right. But we also have a right to continue to discuss the issue, especially since they are still in the spotlight due to their own efforts.
I have removed myself from lots of places where this issue was discussed because I'm sick of the G's too, but if Moon creates a thread specifically for discussion of the G's and someone comes here and is all, "move on, people" it would seem that it is that person who needs to move on. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you are over it….be over it and let us get there in our own time.

A lot of people do if they have the money. Others do their damnedest to pay down their mortgage as soon as they can.
And I beg to differ, how they spend their money IS about the exploitation of their children. We know that TLC were not paying them directly. We know that they have worked since 2007 practically non-stop and it was only a couple of months ago that Kate stated that there was any money put away for them and surprise, surprise, it isn’t an account in which the parents cannot touch unlike a Coogan account. The more money these two spend on themselves, the less is there for the children and their labor – the ones that made it able for them to make the money they have in the first place. I highly doubt that 80% of all the Gosselin’s earnings have been put away which would be the percentage that the children as a whole should have been paid. Jon and Kate, if this was their job, should have taken care of the children out of their 20% of the TLC and book earnings.
I also find it odd that you are talking about “catty” now, lol, really I am. Please feel free to put your moniker into the search at the top of Musings and then feel free to continue your hand slapping diatribe regarding “catty”.
Oh, and you neglected to tell us all here how you know that Preesi is in fact Dana Hoffman as you have claimed.

I am thankful for what I have every single day as evidenced by my gratitude journal and the words I say to my family daily.
I am very interested in the lawsuit/countersuit with TLC and I will no doubt be blogging about it. TLC is pretty damn slimy and I would love to see them nailed to the wall – not to mention having to clean up their act for all the other families that they are currently exploiting. It is my hope that at the end, more stringent laws regarding kids in “reality TV” will be enacted and adhered to.

Ella, I am truly grateful for everyone and everything I have. I take nothing for granted….those times when I may get ‘down’ over things going on in my life, I can always remember/think of, those things for which I am the most grateful and be encouraged. NONE of them (other than a roof over my head/food in my mouth) are of a material nature….it is always my faith, my family and my friends.

Ok… not to revisit a completely beaten dead horse, but I am watching the newest Kathy Griffin stand-up special right now. I honestly don’t think she was insinuating that Aaden is gay. She was talking about Kate’s haircut, saying that she thinks Kate fell asleep and one of the kids got after it with a pair of scissors. She then went on to say that she thought it was Aaden and she likes him. She said, “I think he might be one of us. He may be on Team Griffin one day.” She did go on to name a list of things he might do, including riding on a gay pride parade float. These are things she and her staff have done. I think she meant she thinks he is mischievous, wacky, unconventional…like Kathy and her assistants (aka Team Griffin). I don’t think it had anything to do with sexual orientation. Just my little 2 cents worth…
I guess Radar will treat everyone to pap photos of the Neild family at the McMansion. Seems to me the Neild boys are old enough and aware at their age to know what is going on and to be embarrassed. Shameful.

Granted, this may be wishful thinking, but there are indications ”Gosselin-mania” may finally be waning.
Besides the show ending, I’ve learned both Kate and Jon Gosselin’s separate pitches to keep their money machines churning have mutually hit big roadblocks.
• Kate Gosselin’s proposals to several toy manufacturers — for a line of ”eco-friendly” playthings — have not been met with any enthusiasm. Ditto for her idea for a ”mom-friendly” (whatever that means!) line of beauty products for busy mothers.
• Meanwhile, despite lots of chatter — generated by Jon Gosselin himself — none of the rumored new reality shows he would front are gaining any traction with cable network honchos, who likely see the Gosselin phenomenon has run its course.
OT but did anyone catch the new 18 kids and counting show? It was mainly about Josh, Anna and the baby. I smell a spin off coming….TLC sure knows how to pick them. Josh to me always appeared to be a little lazy and not very ambitious unlike his brother John David. Anna even stepped up her game and talked alot more. That’s what kind of family TLC seems to gravitate to. They can manipulate them into doing about anything for freebies, trips and a big new house. Maybe they’ll be the new Jon and Kate minus seven.
I think Kate had stated in an interview that she used a stronger fertility drug than Clomid. Although, I used to babysit for a woman who had used Clomid and gave birth to a singleton the first time, the second round she had triplets. There is an area of New Jersey that has the nation’s highest rate of triplets due to its proximity to very good fertility centers (National Geographic did an article on it some years ago). So to imply that fertility treatments do not increase the rate of multiples is debateable.
I realize that many people try all sorts of fertilty treatments with no success or have singletons most of the time. My children’s hair cutter tried for many years to have children through fertility treatments, even going down to Philly to see specialists–with no luck.
People question Kate’s use of fertiltiy treatments because of the timing, that she stated in her book that she had hyperstimulated ovaries, and because she knew beforehand that there were at least four follicles ready. She had twins very quickly the first time, as well.

I think TLC is just looking to plug the hole left by the G’s failure.
The Duggar’s show is a horse of a different color. The focus is on their belief system – and how the family functions within it. That was what TLC agreed to when they signed the contract with the Duggars.
Personally, I think that in this instance, TLC has done a decent job adhering to, (and showing/editing,) the filming of this family.
I don’t see this parental unit being manipulated in any way (although TLC might be trying) by the producers.
I’m surprised that you viewed the oldest son as being “lazy”. He’s young, on his own, runs his own business and has a wife and child. And unless he starts running around with skanks and wearing Ed Hardy shirts, I think he’ll be okay.

Well, Lets just say Josh is less ambitious than his brother.He likes to be in the limelight and be the family spokesman. Last night episode had John David running the used car lot for his brother. Been doing it since little Smuggerlett been born. He has the Huckleberry Finn syndrome. I don’t see him running around with skanks. I think his religious “Training” will shine through in that aspect.

I agree with you on this one. IMO anyone that chooses to do a reality show can be “swayed” with the daggle of $$$. All of TLC’s shows start out with down to earth, everyday people and they all change.
I have watched them all, except the newest ones, and they have changed.
They started out being fun to watch to having to take a nerve pill just to sit through the hour.
TLC’s shows are ” Damaging to Your Health “and should be posted on each program !

I understand what you’re saying and why you feel the Duggers are no different from the G’s and will slide down the slippery TLC slope.
I just don’t agree because of the overriding factor that they are faith-motivated in exposing their lifestyle to the public.
This is an established, rigidly-prioritized patriarchal family.
They view tv as a tool to be used for satisfying the curiosity connected with their lifestyle. Frankly, I think they’re being savvy enough to use TLC, rather than the reverse.
The parents aren’t young, impressionable, unaware or needy individuals. They’re frank about what they say and why they say it. The Dugger’s are raising all those kids to be good, giving people.
I may not agree with their faith, but I do admire them as a family.

She was sent from the drs. office (per her book) to the hospital. My guess would be the dr. sent her more because he DIDN’T want her impregnated w/that many follicles. How was he to know she had a much bigger, more diabolical plan and rather than go directly to the hospital, she headed home to do just what the dr. DIDN’T order.

I agree that the Duggars don’t fit in the same category as the Gosselins. They HAVE raised their children with values and they are good kids. I love the way that they give back to other people and are thrilled to do it.
I don’t think it’s right thoughthat the older girls are responsible for raising the little ones. They deserve a life before babies. But, that is a different story.
I was only saying that they too enjoy the limelight and the bank account. I just hope they don’t take the same wrong turn like the G’s.

The Duggar parents are using TLC as their own faith-based platform. Just because they’re fundamental Christianians doesn’t mean that they’re uneducated to the ways of contemporary America – they just don’t agree with the social mores and chose to live a different way.
I think they’ve made that very clear to the viewing public. I don’t see anyone at TLC being able to intimidate or “buy” them into relinquishing their beliefs or values.

Really? How? All I see lately are trips and trips and more trips – just like the Gosselins.
Okay – I’m going to take one final whack at this overly-dead horse.
All of the televised trips that I’ve seen, this season, have been focused on demonstrating, experiencing or being a proponent for their faith. They travel in their family bus, helping friends build, doing ministry work in a third-world country, experiencing bible-based plays, parades., etc., renewing REAL vows of marriage and visiting schools and farms.
They don’t seem to be acting, dressing or living any differently as a result of their television exposure.
TLC has given them a platform and the Duggars are using it.
Cynthia, it’s scripted – just like every other TLC “reality” show.
One more thing – there is no amount of money in the world that would prompt me to have my children’s births shown to millions of people on television – ala Anna Duggar. I wonder how much they got paid for that? Did they put it in a college fund for their daughter?

WTF??!!! Barbara Walters is right up there with that vile Oprah Winfrey – anything for ratings and attention. Fuck her!
So far, according to Gossip Cop, Barbara’s list of “the 10 most fascinating people of 2009″ consists of Kate Gosselin, Adam Lambert of American Idol fame, and Jenny Sanford, wife of philandering South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. More names to be released shortly.
Did you all notice how the nannies step right in and took care of the kids when Jon left. Kate has never had to really take care of them by herself. I am afraid we are going to hear more bad news about the family as time goes on. Kate has no one to turn to it seems, no family, just paid TLC crew, paid body guard, paid nannies. When the money is gone then who will help her? She pushed Jon away last year, saying “I’m done.” Bet she never though Jon would go off the deep end like he has and then worst of all cancel “her” show.
Cynthia-I agree with you on the Duggar’s….I appreciate the fact that they insist on sharing their beliefs and I believe they are sincere people. Josh does appear to be a bit arrogant for me, and probably is motivated by the money.
A few things about the last show-
First of all, I bet my last dollar the kids will be back on TV. Jon will cave, he will need the money.
Second, he was in my opinion not sober in any of the interviews. He came off as an ignorant, self-absorbed ass-stoned!
Third, his reaction to Mady and Cara whining about their poster making was what I saw uncalled for. Those girls were not whining about markers…they, especially Cara seemed sad and miserable. Mady telling Jon that they only do fun things with Mommy was a low blow from a kid, but I think she was speaking her mind. As usual, I respect Mady for her ability to think for herself, but fear she is set up by her mother.
Fourth, Kate’s action with the kitten was just mean! She didn’t want the kids to hold it because she did. Did anyone else see how she was rocking back and forth. Gawd, she is sick. And BTW, her buddy Jamie was with them on the tractor.
Fifth, these little 5 year olds are NOT well mannered, or Kate does not appear to give any of them in direction. They were at a working farm with livestock. The kids were very loud and running around. Kate just doesn’t give a shit when it doesn’t affect her directly! I do think the kids are behind socially, verbally etc…It shows the older they get. (Collin seems to be an exception from what I observe though. That boy has been flying under Kate’s radar and he keeps to himself)
Lastly, wouldn’t it have been nice if this really had been a documentary and the show had ended on a postive note. It would have been heartwarming to watch all the old clips go by on the TV knowing they were all well cared for and that they hadn’t paid such a high price for those moments in time.
(I rambled, sorry….spent the day in the ER with my daughter….everything is OK, but it was a long day waiting)

IMO, Jon’s interview came during the time when he was fed up with TLC and show and was showing his anger and frustration. To accuse him of “not sober” during an interview that was edited by TLC is not fair.
I wonder what it will be like tomorrow at the KONpound – it is Thanksgiving and did I read that the Neild family is coming to celebrate with Take and the kids? I also wonder if the personal chef will be supplying a gourmet Thanksgiving meal, although I think the personal chef may be paid by The Leprosy Channel – in which case there may not be one.

Just out of curiousity, it seems you are typically quite defensive of Jon, is there any particular reason? I mean, how many times can one makes excuses for the man, such as, he was fed up w/TLC, the show, etc. I sure want Jon to be the better/kinder/nicer parent of the two, but let’s face it, Jon is pathetically immature. ONE more time of him griping about ‘becoming a dad at 22 with twins, tups at 27″, etc and I’m going scream. The guy needs to get over it, he needs to stop blaming everyone and everything else, and be a man and a father that his kids can look up to.

Who gives a shit who BW thinks is “fascinating.” Yeah, Adam Lambert is real “fascinating.” Wow he’s gay, sings, and wears make-up. Go to any Broadway show and you’ll see quite a few guys just like him. Time to retire Barbara.

I’m sorry but its a legitimate excuse and has a lot to due with Kate’s treatment of him during the marriage. Whether you like it or not Kate was verbally abusive to him. Some people could barely get through an hour of that, let alone 10 years of it. Maybe if he was allowed to see his friends once a week or once a month he would not have acted out like he did. Just like the studies that showed that you give a poor man money and he will spend it all in one day and stay be homeless in the end. He definitely is the better of the two parents, any parent who thinks its ok to allow their kids to be filmed changing in their underwear clearly really has no clue. Jon said it was wrong for him to go, what more do you want? He’s allowed to go to a bar and drink, he’s allowed to have friends that are both male and female, not the best decision but that’s definitely not anything abnormal compared to the rest of the population.
P.S. So many sheeple complaining about the Cara and Mady treatment, I guess they turned away when they saw Kate yell “Be a man” at Aaden. “OMG Maybe that’s how she really treats the children now”
Just like Kate and her fans excuse her behavior towards Jon for the past 5 seasons because the way he acts now. That’s like saying: “I beat my wife but she’s really a b****”. No one can do anything to actually deserve that treatment on a continual basis. No wonder he felt free once he separated. Oh.. but he’s an awful person for saying that
Jon’s an idiot for saying that; imo, he’s a mambey-pambey-cupcake-eating-skillet-licking Mama’s Boy. He doesn’t just say stupid things, he lives them. That’s inexcusable. Anyone who reaches the age of 32 or whatever he is, no matter what their circumstances, and hasn’t considered what kind of PERSON he/she aspires to be, not to mention father, spouse, son, friend, EMPLOYEE, is a thoughtless, spineless, selfish, ignorant waste of a life.
Yes, Hate was a bitch and abused him; that part of his life is OVER and it’s time to grow up and move on to bigger and better things. ALL of us go through ugly difficult stuff – that’s part of life and contributes immensely to how we learn – if we choose to use our brain and not soak it and smother it in alcohol and pot. Everything we thought about while we were being abused or held back, everything we planned and dreamed about, we can finally do when we’re let out of whatever kind of prison we’ve been in. It’s a time for joyous celebration and life-affirming action. The longer Jon is coddled and excused and allowed to use Kate’s ugly abuse as a “reason” or explanation to not move out of that persona and into his big boy life, the greater the risk that he’ll never get with it and grow up; that’d be a really shitty thing to do to those eight children. Too bad about what happened to you, Jon-Boy, but you have a duty, you OWE those children a decent human being for a parent. It’s bad enough their mother has been allowed to fuck them up as horribly as she has; that’s all the more reason why YOU need to get it in gear. If you’re depressed, FIX IT; New York is lousy with therapists (until August when they leave for a month).
Jon loves to say “actions speak louder than words.” However, he’s still talking and talking and talking… he’s full of excuses and bad choices – he should stop making friends and falling in lust until he gets some credible, professional guidance from someone who realizes what a “celebrity” he isn’t, someone who will show him how to grow the hell up and not offer him anymore misplaced inappropriate (projection, anyone?) sympathy; it’s stunting his growth.
And yes, I know what it’s like to be where Jon was; I was an abused spouse. I was locked in my room for eleven years and only came out to cook and give birth. So please don’t tell me “I haven’t walked in his shoes.” I’ve not only walked in those shoes, I taught myself to RUN in them until I set myself free.

I’m reading this thread a little late, but wanted to say your opening post was excellent. It may have been a circuitous route, but thank goodness the children have been removed from the crass commercialism brought to you by The Learning Channel. Let’s all remember this in future programming seasons. I have removed that channel from my cable lineup.

I agree with your advice to Jon to grow up and take charge of his life, responsibly, that is. He’s is going about it the wrong way, however. He does need to surround himself with a support system–a good therapist and real friends and family that have his and the children’s best interests at heart.
I think Jon felt “free” of Kate. He did say in the interview he will always be the childrens’ father, “no matter what–that will never change.” Jon is not eloquent, and unfortunately, I think his bitterness towards Kate (not that I blame him) gets in the way of saying the right thing. I think also, many of his actions are to “spite” Kate–very foolish of him. Jon is passive aggressive and it always comes back to bite him in the butt.
Kate reminds me of Nurse Ratchett in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” Controlling, condescending, and emasculating—the Jack Nicholson character finally had enough of her and rebelled. For that, he got a lobotomy–for being unruly and violent.
(BTW, Alana, kudos to you for getting out of an abusive relationship.)
alana seems to want to pile on to Jon along with Kate and TLC. You say you were in an abusive relationship, but yet you have little concern for what Jon went through, is escaping from and trying to recover from – his abuse via Kate. That will take time and mistakes will be made. Jon has said he has made some bad decisions. He did say he went a “little wild” after Kate dumped him. On the show Monday, several times Jon indicated that it’s time to do what is best for the kids – something never uttered from their mother. Guess what? Jon loves those children and those children love him and in my book that’s all that matters. As the old Beatles song says “All you need is love” – the rest will take care of itself, IMO.
You know Linda, in my job, it is important that I study and ascertain the action of individuals. In Jon I see a man struggling with the after-effects of an abusive relationship. I see a man who has been fighting, for the most part, a battle against a corporate conglomerate whose goal is to destroy Jon because he dared to stand up to them. People who would turn against you at the drop of a few dollars . A wife that seems to revel in all of the bad publicity that has been bought and paid for by that corporate conglomerate. So, if Jon has gone “off the deep end” a few times, I tend to understand why. Does that excuse Jon’s poor choices? No, but it can explain them. Jon is the Gosselin’s children only hope for a normal childhood. So, instead of using Gossip sites to form your opinions of the man, try walking in his shoes.
Alana, it’s terrible what happened to you! No one, NO ONE should be abused or mistreated. And it’s understandable why you would be so angry (at your ex?), much like Jon is with Kate. It’s wonderful that you were able to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and change your life, and the life of your children for the better. I’m sure it takes determination and courage and a strong resolve to overcome an abusive situation. Jon is in this process of trying to free himself from his abuser, and trying to protect his children as well from a second tyrant, TLC. I know he is partially responsible, but I can’t imagine the pressure and stress he must be under in trying to untangle this mess And although he continues to flounder around and figure out who is Jon Gosselin, I do believe he is trying. I’m sure he would LOVE to be where you say he should be…if he’s depressed, FIX IT.
I have to say I went through a severe depression several years ago (I was much older than 32) and as much as I didn’t WANT to feel awful, I had to work very, very hard with a therapist to pull myself up and out of a deep dark hole. It did not happen overnight and in fact, it took a couple of years. I know my behavior was erratic and inappropriate at times, but I did not consider myself thoughtless or spineless or my life a waste, I just knew I was doing the best I could.
My wish for Jon and his children on this Thanksgiving day is that he continues to work on changing his life for the better so that he can be there for his children and they might have the childhood they so richly deserve. My wish for Kate, that she wakes up and realizes the terrible suffering she is causing with her behavior and that she too gets the help she so desperately needs. For you Alana I wish that you or your children should never again have to suffer at the hands of an abuser, that you have many friends and family around to love and support you, and that you have a joyous Thanksgiving.
When a demanding wife makes all your decisions and threats you like a dog for years, you are going to try and relive those fun years. It happens to many people. Sometimes it’s called mid-life crisis.
I have known a few people that acted the same way. The difference is, they were not in the media for the world to see and judge their every mistake, like Jon has been.
I do believe that he now understands that in REALITY , the only people you can truly trust is your family. It’s time for Jon to slow down, take a breathe and lean on the people that truly love him. His family can make all the difference for him, and in the end, his children also.
These children love him dearly and I know he loves them, because they are his children, and he has shown it many times over.
I have never seen one moment of ‘true affection’ come from their mother. Not one ! I just don’t beleive that she is capable.
Jon, if you are reading this, I want you know that you and your children are in my thoughts and prayers today. Happy Thanksgiving !

I would like to attempt to clarify some misconceptions I’ve read about fertility treatments. My knowledge comes from my own issues.
PCOS is a condition where your ovaries are producing so many follicles that the follicles can not get big enough to produce a viable egg. Treatments, like clomid, encourage the follicles to grow to the necessary size for fertilization.
Four to six follicles are ideal to proceed with an IUI – where semen that has been “washed” are injected using a catherter. Patients are also encouraged to have as many relations as possible around that time as insurance. Using drugs like clomid have a negative side-effect, making the mucus layer harder to penetrate so the more sperm making that journey, the better.
Over-stimulated ovaries do not mean more follicles, it means you have irritated the ovaries causing the ovaries to swell, which needs immediate treatment for pain as well as to prevent any damage to the ovaries.
Having said all this I have always been suspicious about Kate’s story. Hubby and I have been trying for almost two years now. We couldn’t even get testing until we had been trying for a year (and we’re both over thirty – over thirty five expedites the waiting time to six months) – even with indicators of PCOS (irregular cycles, prior hospitalization for a burst cyst, weight gain, etc.). After the year I was subjected to about six months worth of tests to get insurance approval. Now, perhaps those two were paying out of Daddy Gosselin’s till, but there still should have been some lag time considering their ages and the time they had been trying to conceive naturally (unless they lied and said they had been trying prior to marriage). There would also have had to have been tests to ensure the passage ways were open, as well as baseline hormone tests, male fertility tests, the three day after menstruation tests, etc. For her story to hold water they would have had to got off the plane from their honeymoon and started testing or be working with a less than reputable doc.

ITA, I feel Kate used her position as a nurse to get special treatment. I used to work at a hospital, in an administrative position, and employees definitely got perferential treatment when it came to medical care. Also, we haven’t heard anything about who her doctor was unless it was published in the newspapers at the time the tups were born. Something has always smelled about her situation. You can’t keep it quiet forever what went on but I’m guessing those nurses, etc. are still employed at that hospital and don’t want to risk their jobs.
If Kate is one of 2009 fascinating people why wasn’t she in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with one of her BFF Meredith V. I watched most of it and she wasn’t on any floats for all of us to admire either. With her newly inflated boobies she could have flown through the air with Sponge Bob and the Energizer Bunny.
It’s 3:00pm and no pictures from the Konpound with The Neilds yet.

Very well said and exactly how I see it. Especially the part about corporate money and power deployed against Jon. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, and a fallible human being, who, I believe is trying to improve and slowly waking up to a few things (e.g. the pedophile issue). My hope for him is that he can prevail against TLC and stay on the path to becoming a better human being.

Kate Gosselin spent Thanksgiving with her eight children, plus bodyguard/best friend Steve Neild, his wife Ginaand their kids.

This is Kate’s first Thanksgiving in a decade without soon-to-be-ex husband Jon, and she’s estranged from her brother Kevin Kreider who reconciled with Jon last month — follow that? — so who better to share turkey with than the Neilds? The festive dinner took place at the Gosselin’s Wernersville, PA home.
Although there were once rumors that Kate and Steve were more than bodyguard and bodyguardee — rumors Jon helped promote — Kate has spoken about how much she has relied on Steve and Gina for support through her divorce. “They’re my best friends,” Kate said.
Jon & Kate Plus 8, the TV show, is now cancelled and a part of TV history. Jon & Kate’s marriage should be history by the end of December.
What does it say about Kate Gosselin that the only people that share Kate’s holiday is the hired help?
Wonder who that older lady is going in with Steve and Gina. You can see her in one of the pics.
Also, I noticed they had their luggage on top on the car. Guess they are staying the weekend. Bet Gina ends up in the basement where Jon slept.
And Jon is allegedly in Utah snowboarding per Hailey and Katedar.
I find it interesting that the comments over at Katedar basically find nothing “odd” about Kate spending Thanksgiving with her PAID bodyguard. They call them “trusted friends”. Honey, they’re only as trusted as long as the paycheck is coming in. Kate has THREE sisters, one brother (we all know what happened there) and two alive and well parents. Yet NONE of them were worthy to spend the holiday with? Really, Kate tell us what happened to Beth, how, oh how, did she “sell you out?” When “everyone else” is the problem, it usually means there is a common factor—could that be Kate?
BTW, Kate having Gina and the kids over means nothing as to whether she has the hots for Steve. My uncle’s wife left him for his “best friend”–who was part of a couple that they had actively socialized with (as families, too) for years.

lisa~~~ I would lay down my entire Christmas budget if someone would produce a pic of Kate and Steve getting it on. Nobody will ever convince me that those two don’t have something going on.
And I don’t mean freinds. I mean a flat downright, get down dirty affair !
The only time I’ve seen her look half way happy is when she’s with Steve and that seems to be most of the time.

What I find interesting about Kate’s fondness for the Nields is that she has cut everyone out of her life for trying to “profit” off of her and yet, she’s so close to the Nields, the people who have profited off of her the most. It seems like Kate’s/TLC’s employment of Steve would account for Steve’s entire income. I wonder if she treats Steve nicely since he is all she has left and so he actually likes her. Or if he realizes that as long as she’s happy he’ll have an income. Like the boss who invites you to a dinner that you really don’t want to go to.

marina, I would think that a lot of what went on “behind the scenes” will be revealed in Jon’s lawsuit.
Ava: I agree. TLC and Steve, among others, have profited immensely from the show–yet Kate only socializes with them. Steve’s job is/was to keep Kate safe and happy–all about Kate, f course she loves that! However, it’s his JOB–as long as Kate likes him, he’s got a very well-paying job–travelling to nice places with Kate.

I had read that the term meant that the ovaries were responding “too well” to the medication, thus potentially increasing the number of follicles; I’m glad you gave a more precise definition. (I also read that IVF has a decreased chance of higher-order multiples when done conservatively.) The recent research suggests that using stronger injectible drugs with IUI in women under the age of 35 increases the risk of triplets or more and should NOT be used as a first option. Triplets and more are not consideed desirable outcomes by fertility specialists.

Cheryl, I had a hard time finding it too. Go to X17 online and, for me, I had to click on the alphabetical listing of ‘celebrities’. There is a vid of someone leaving a gift at the gate, since no one answered the bell. The paps were instructing her on what to do, etc. She announced herself on the machine as “It’s Stacey again”. It was a homemade gift and as Dunwoody Mom said, I’m sure went the way of the kids pictures.
Just viewed that video. The poor woman came from Kentucky with a homemade gift for the Ice Queen. Sad. Just. Sad.
People like this have such kind hearts and yet can’t see the reality of the situation.

Terrible skiing, riding conditions in Utah currently. Not a single resort is fully open. Park City, the Canyons where Jon likes to ride is partially open with snowguns blasting all day long. The locals won’t ski crappy conditions like this…and many vacationer’s canceled their very expensive trips, must to the dismay of the local economy. I seriously hope Jon doesn’t spend much time here this winter. I don’t want his paps following him around in my home town. However, with all the skiing my family does, it would be fun to share a lift ride with and ask if some questions.

I thought that Tweet was unnecessary, but considering her age, I think it was because she was hurt and she wants the “world” to know it. It was all over the internet last night so her mission was accomplished. Very immature, but who in the cast of characters isn’t? I tried to give this young woman the benefit of the doubt and leeway as she is so very young, but you know, there are plenty of young adults her age and younger even that would not carry on the way that she has in all of this, so age is not really a factor. Immaturity of and in character is – just like Jon and the rest of them. It is unfortunate. She stated a number of times that this entire relationship with Jon had driven a wedge between her and her parents. I cannot imagine that they are supporting her Tweets, so in essence she herself continues to drive the wedge. Now her parents friends and her father’s patients all know what Jon did over the holidays and her response to it, along with everyone else. At one point she has got to put her father and his practice above her “teenage” angst.
I know Hailey is young, but at some point, she needs to realize that things like this only reflect back on her.

Radar has pictures up of Jon”dancing” by the barn. I am concerned he is at the bottom.
Kate did to him what she does to everyone. She threw him away.
He looks like he is literally falling apart mentally.
At his age he should be responsible for himself but I think the drugs, acting out, and stupid decisions are all due to him trying to cover up the pain. I can only hope Jon has at least a few people who are concerned for him who will try to get him to get help and quick.
Kate is to blame for their down fall. She kicked him out and refused to get counseling. Think of how she could have saved her family if she had done the right thing.

This is what I call spending real ‘quailty’ time with your kids. Not like Kate, dragging them to Starbucks. Of course she only takes 2 at a time, never all of them. She has to make sure the paid paps gets a few shots of her though.

I used to study astrology quite a lot, especially when I lived in England. I belonged to a group. I haven’t done much with it in years, except for working out my transits every January when I’m thinking about the year ahead.
Yes, I love gardening, too. I’ve gardened for years, but as a hobby. During the last couple of years I got serious about seeing how much food I could produce in my backyard. (Hence, the blog.) Seems like a more secure investment than IRAs these days – getting our house paid off and producing a significant proportion of our own fruit and veggies. I even got chickens this year, and that’s been an interesting experience.

NBC last night on their evening news talked about how far reality wanna be stars will go for their 15 mintues of fame, including clips from Jon and Kate. Got around to watching the final episode. Kate was totally nasty towards Jon. What a hateful, spiteful person. Regarding Jon punishing Mady and Cara for fighting over the markers, I see no problem with that. The girls were acting horribly. I wouldn’t put up with it either.

So I’m flipping channels this morning and lo and behold there is the Queen of the White Plastic Throne (Kate) and her Pauper (Jon) setting up bunk beds for the kids. Kate looked much different back then and it’s pretty obvious she’s had work done. Her eyes look different now, back then they were saggy and tired looking. Her skin tone was uneven and blotchy looking. One thing that did stay the same was the crappy way she treated Jon. Poor guy.
Laura ~ I watched that same show last week and I wanted to jump right in the tube and strangle Kate. I can’t imagine why Jon stayed as long as he did. Mu husband would have not lasted a week if I treated him the way Kate treated Jon. Doubt there are many that would.
I look at Kate’s actions as total abuse towards Jon and her children.
I found an article from The New York Times, that really clarified alot of the crap the Gosselin children must have had to endure during filming with TLC.
The article is about the filming of Octomom and her kids, but made me realize that the G’s must have had the same issues. It does mention the G’s in the article. Really disturbing to me. (.

So what in the world is going on with Kate’s hair? I went to Sosugary and the newest pics show her out with Mady. She’s got a long flap going parted on the other side. Then if you look at the pics taken like a week ago, her hair is short all over. It’s like she added some type of flap extension. It’ll be interesting to see what the style is on The View.
BTW, without TV lighting and makeup, she really looks haggard. A year ago I thought she looked pretty good with the weight loss, but she’s put it back on and her face has more lines. Must be stressful hiding money from your soon-to-be ex. And this time next year I predict she’ll be long gone from the McMansion.
I don’t regularly watch 18 kids and counting, but caught the better part of one this morning…..is TLC kicking Kate when she’s down (and out)? The kids go to the dentist, and the windows get covered with those paper ‘blinds’ as in Kate’s old house? To compare the two, is like night and day. Michelle is gracious, sweet, unruffled, and Kate in that same scenario is not. LOL

I just read the Octomom article you referenced ( the WHOLE thing!).
Crazy when you think that her children were only allowed to be filmed an hour ( the babies ) to a couple of hours ( the older kids ) a day.
Not at all what the G’s kids had to endure, for days at a time.
And even Octomom’s kids had to suffer reshoots of scenes. So you can imagine how it must have been for the G’s brood.
It’ll be interesting if Kara and Mady team up down the road, and write a book describing what it was really like!

As far as the Duggars, I see more parental involvement and parental emotion and support from Jim Bob than I do from Michelle. He is always carrying and consoling the smaller girls. He seems to genuinely care much more deeply about his children than Michelle.
I’m no longer watching TLC. I also refuse to watch any reality show that has children past toddler age on it.

I watched The Duggars last night and agree that Jim Bob does seem more involved than Michelle with the kids. Seems as if her only real job is to get carry the kids for 9 mos. , breastfeed them , and then turn them over to the older girls to raise.
Don’t get me wrong as I do enjoy the Duggers show. These children are talented, kind and well behaved.
I just don’t think it’s fair for the older kids to be responsible to raise each other.
Michelle never spends any one one time with any of the kids. Not even the little ones.
Gram123, I totally agree with you. I find it disgusting that she has all those children and they become responsible to raise their younger siblings. Let them grow up and have their own children when they are ready. I don’t care if they are “happy” children anyway and think it’s great, etc. It is a parent’s own responsibility to raise and care for your own children and if you can’t do it alone then stop having more.
I have not seen a recent episode of the Duggars. However, mentioned in an earlier season, or when they were still highlighted as specials, there was discussion that the kids could literally request one on one time with the parents. Granted, it’s like making an appt to see your parent (!). However, I am one of six, and even with that relatively small number, my parents were surprisingly hands off parents (‘go play outside was the parental refrain) and I would have been glad for an appt of one on one attention.

Wow, I hope there’s not going to be a movement to snark on the Duggars. I guess dad does spend more time w/them, he sure doesn’t appear to be doing any helping around the house. Michelle oversees all the laundry, cooking, home schooling, etc. Jim Bob does NONE of that. To say that “he seems to genuinely care much more deeply about his children than Michelle”, is absurd. Caring also involves seeing they are fed, clothed, schooled, etc. Besides, she’s preg. all the time, I’m guessing that’s why he does a lot of the carrying and lifting of the little ones.
Linda….when you put it like that, Jim and Michelles parenting makes alot of sense. Imagine the back pain Michelle endures with each pregnancy. It must be agonising.

I can totally see where you are coming from on this one. While my memory doesn’t serve me too well anymore, if I recall, I didn’t think Baba hit Castro w/the really hard questions. I think the ‘draw’ there was/is she can claim to be the journalist that ’scored’ the interview. Maybe he ‘let’ her score it cuz he thought she’d be a lightweight. Afterall, she did admit to having a huge crush on him (in her new book) when she began talking with him. Baba is just coasting now, til she is ready to retire. I think that Barbara Walters simply reflects the ever-blurring line of hard news/journalism vs entertainment news.
She’s one of the last of her generation to still be on camera on a regular basis, and she is no longer responsible for any hard news. She is her own boss and her present day penchant for interviewing personalities is one of the few things left that she chooses to do.
As far as hitting her interviewed people with the “hard” questions, in this day and age people who wind up on the tube, being interviewed for whatever reason, are simply too savvy to fall for those “loaded” questions.
Think back years ago with the Diane Sawyer/Whitney Houston interview. Faced with hard questions, people just slip-slide away.
Characterizing Walters as a hack is harsh.
fwiw…they did run an ad this morning on The View for BW’s special next wed. During it, they briefly showed some of the folks being featured. KG was among them. Hair was different (softer waves) but she also looked (IMO) as if she was being filmed with very soft light/guaze/vaseline to make her look better.
Has anyone been watching little people big world? Looks like the show has taken its toll on the roloff family also. Amy was talking about her and matt not getting along anymore. Is TLC network just doing this for entertainment? Watch out Duggars and Hays. You might be next.
I don’t know what is going on with LPBW. I noticed that Matt and Amy are producers on the show, so they would have to be okay with what is being portrayed. LPBW was the only show on TLC that I watched, but after Monday’s nastiness I removed that channel from my remote.
I don’t watch LPBW but maybe TLC put them up to having “problems” so that they can work out their marital problems and TLC can say “See? We don’t ruin marriages. Jon and Kate’s marriage was different and would have broken up no matter what.”

TLC only has a repetoire of about 7 or 8 storylines. Dentist, ranch, beach, etc. They figured it drew interest in the J&K storyline, why not put a little friction/opposition/conflict/hostility in LPBW’s life? Matt and Amy are just as money hungry, fame whorish as the G’s, so sure they’ll go along with that storyline. They dont’ want to lose their gravy train!
The other LP show (can’t recall the name) showed clip of next show w/Jennifer (name??) supposedly standing over a patient who dies. I can’t believe they would actually be allowed to film that, so I’m guessing it’s going to be a whole different situation. BUT it is TLC and whatever works for ratings….I’m curious to see that show. Anyone know what nite they come on?

I watched one episode of The Little Couple. While they both seemed very nice, the show was boring and I have not watched any more episodes. As was already stated, TLC “vision” is limited. All of their shows seems to be centered around certain themes.

I respect your opinion and response but I don’t feel I’m being harsh.
BW has, or should it be ‘had’ clout and brains. It’s painful to watch this woman whom I’ve admired for years sink to reporting and shilling for what? A fame-whore like Kate? If anyone is capable of asking the hard questions, it is BW. Lucky for Kate she was is “softball” mode.
If the last couple of years is indicative of the way BW wants to end her illustrious career, I feel sorry for her.

I’m going to have to agree with you on this one. I used to love watching Barbara and had a lot of respect for her and her journalism, but not any more.
She needs to retire IMO. BW has , sad to say this, lost her credibilty and appeal in tvland. I think The View has helped me realize this.
I have tried to watch this show many times, but can’t handle a full hour of 4 women trying to talk over each other on subjects they know nothing about. That’s not proof of a good leader like Barbara.
They don’t even bother to research their topics. Reminds me of

Yes Gram I made it myself. My sister in law made one of my hubs side of the family and I watched it over again. I was thinking this would be so funny if I added the whole gosselin clan to it. So I had to remember who got the the worst punishment. I look worst possible pic of Kate on Snarkie’s site and blam. I know Jon and Hailey are over but I thought they would make a great team. I wanted the kids not to be in this little movie. They have enough on their plates. They dont need to be humilated like their parents.
