Happy Yule and Open Post~
Dec 21st, 2009 by BohemianMoon

Happy Yule to all! Those not familiar with the holiday can read about it here
And with Christmas right around the corner, I have been busy with preparations and obviously have not been to Musings very often.
Please use this open post to talk about anything and everything ~ I do hope to be back soon

I got a solstice present today, a beautiful silver bracelet made from anique spoons. It’s so purdy. Happy Yule everybody!
I love that Santa / Green Man pic, Moon, it’s a fav of mine. Thank you.
Have a wonderful Yule night. I will be counting down the days until Spring!!
I DID IT!
Yikes.
I aced my last final exam tonight in bio so my grades should be all A’s. You all have no idea what this means to me, a 50 in 40 days year old, grieving female. After spending 15 years supporting my wasband”s career in Naval Aviation, moving every 18 months while rearing 3 exceptionally strong, talented, healthy children plus making a home out of scratch again and again, it was time to chase that elusive bachelors degree.
I just wish my departed sweet baboo was here to kiss me and watch me do the happy dance.. If I am a bit weepy December 28th, forgive me in advance for that is the day he was killed last year. He was be so proud of me, and my effort even if I didn’t get A’s. But c’;est la vie, non?
I feel validated, and valuable, and strong, and broader after a single semester.
Now all I have to do in the next 3 days is pull Christmas out of a hat.
So while I always knew I did not need the Wizard of Oz for a brain, I can confirm I do not need him for courage or bravery either.
Thanks you for letting me boast. My sincerest hope is whatever endeavor you embark on, you achieve complete success as defined by you.
With great love and gratitude…..Mary Ellen
NTS ~
Congrats on your finals! What are you majoring in and when do you finish?
#2 Pat- I thought the same thing when I saw the picture Moon used for this thread. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!
#4 NTS-Congrats girl!
Whooohooo NTS! Congrats!
NTS-Christmas/Yule is a state of mind and by what i just read you are there. You will think of something fabulous. I know you will! YOU ROCK !!!!
escrow
NTS, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!
You are an awesome, brave and intelligent woman. You deserve you to boast all you want.
You will in my thoughts for the first anniversary of his passing. God bless. I’m sure you will pull it off for Christmas.
To everyone Happy Holidays!!! I hope everyone will be safe and enjoy all the goodies.
NonTraditional Student, BIG conrats to you! Way to go!!!!
NTS, CONGRATS!!!! You are very inspirational! I am hoping to go back someday and get a degree…it’s nice to know it is doable
You should be so proud of yourself!!!! (((((hugs)))))
NTS, Congrats. Clearly you have always had it in yourself to do what needed to be done for your Family. Now is YOUR time for
YOU. Congratulations again!!!!
NTS – Yippee!!!! To quote Dolly Parton from “Steel Magnolias” – “That that doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.” Sending you a BIG hug to save for the 28th.
Oh My! I am overwhelmed by your effusive praise, blessings, and sympathies. To say THANK YOU seems inadequate, but I sincerely mean it from the bottom of my heart and soul. Kids, if I can do it, anyone can. You especially judy, and I have lots of tips that will keep you ( well kept me) motivated and disciplined. Join Moon’s forum and email me , but I am NonTradStudent there.I don’t even regret not going back sooner, because you do things when you are ready.
Don’t misunderstand, I was scared silly! Broke, food stamps, on the bus, and frightened I had no firing synapses or memory left. Believed me, I cried many a day while riding the bus to school.
and had to get over being obviously the “most experienced” i.e. oldest student on campus. People were asking me for directions the first day, and every time I had to interact with support staff they asked, “Oh faculty right.” Plus everyone kept calling me “mamn”, so I was diligent about keeping my naturally dark hair dyed ,so the gray roots were not reflecting sunlight.
I have no major yet, but, would like to teach math at a high school level. My belief is Math just should not be so hard to understand. Rutgers does not have an education major, but a “Teacher’s Prep Program.” But, the courses required to specialize in math are the same as a math major which is insane, and, perhaps beyond my cognitive capacity. No matter, I will “get ‘er done.”
Well besides THANK YOU again, I guess all I have left to say is that “you are as good as the company that you keep.” So hanging here, with you people for friends, guarantees my continued success.
Peace and Good
Congrats NTS! What an accomplishment! And good on you for wanting to be a math teacher – we need more good ones in this world (spoken from someone who has paid an astronomical amount of money to math tutors the last few years – when you get someone who can make math understandable you can actually see the spark of realization come into the student’s eyes – money well spent).
Congrats NTS!!
I have to venture out to the store today. I am dragging hubs because it is still icy and snowy out there. He can catch me if I start to fall.
I have a long list (my oldest added to it) that I am going to have to split in two.
Some today and some (gulp) on Christmas Eve. That is when we get paid. Ugh!
I have to remember to hit the liquor store. Oldest wants to make hot toddy`s for Christmas eve.

~~What an accomplishment!! I’m so proud of you! You are the definition of strength and perseverance.
NTS, I wish more math teachers like you on the world. Math makes my head explode and my brain turn to Quaker instant oatmeal.
NTS/ Mary Ellen ~
A HUGE congrats to you! I’m sending you a cyber Snoopy Happy Dance!!
What you did and are doing is just plain impressive!
NonTraditional Student,
Congratulations. I am so inspired by reading about your accomplishments. I missed it, did you get a degree in education?
NTS – you are an inspiration to all of us!
Good Luck in the future and everything you do!
Mary Ellen, you certainly are deserving after such a difficult year. Congratulations and wishing you a warm and fulfilling holiday celebration.
Our kids, our grandkids and my mom will be here on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holiday, eat a hearty meal, have our gift exchange, and together with my sister and her family attend the candlelight service at church. The decorations are up, the stockings are hung, the shopping is done, the gifts are wrapped and under the tree and now I’m deep into food preparation. Life is good…
I am happy I won’t be spending Christmas eve alone. I hate being alone on on that nite. I am going to church w/the middle dtr. and family, it’s a service geared mostly to the children. We will take the kids around after to see the lights. Yes, itsabouthekids, life IS good…
I hope you have a beautiful night, Linda, and I’m glad you won’t be alone. Ohhhhhh, I love to go on the light ride on Christmas eve! I hope the weathers good here so I can drive around.
All the best to you NTS!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!
Your Eve sounds wonderful too, Linda. It’s been several years since we went out to look at the lights but I always loved it. It’s raining here now and we are expecting it to turn to snow Christmas eve thru Christmas day. That will make things just about perfect. We can take the kids sledding and then enjoy the warmth of the fire indoors. Whatever it is, I plan to sit back and enjoy.
I had to share this with all of you.

NTS~
Way to go! It feels so good doesn’t it?! And don’t feel bad about thinking post-secondary math is too hard. I LOVE math and I took a couple courses in university and was registered in a second year linear algebra course, I spent the first two weeks crying and then dropped it. That math is crazy insane! Good Job though, and best of luck with the rest of your schooling-it will so be worth it.
I discovered something (else) juicy and mysterious on Dirty Disher’s website. It’s Hate Greedslin related, in case anyone’s needing a KG fix!
Go to the December 18 posts/page of DD’s blog
Scroll down until you see the pic of Twiggy
There’s a link for a website “Crazy Days and Nights” – click on it.
The first post is a Blind Item with a familiar ring. It’s about a “Real reality star” who, while Christmas shopping today, was waiting in line at the register w/20 other people, and talking loud and incessantly on her cell phone. She is accompanied by a real hunk of a man whose sole purpose seems to be holding her packages. Sound familiar? The best/worst is yet to come… There’s an elderly man standing in front of the “star.” When he bends down to pick something up, she no longer sees him; she automatically moves up in line and knocks him flat on his ass. As the other people in line gather around to help the elderly man to his feet, this “star,” oblivious to what she has done, continues to yak on her phone and moves up in line. WHO IS THE “STAR?”
After trying every password I have, I couldn’t get the comment section to let me log in. I tried for almost an hour; when I finally gave up, there were 50 “guesses” and only one for KG! Most people named one of the Real Housewives of… but I just know the answer HAS to be Hate. Especially with the “Real reality star” clue at the beginning. If anyone’s up for giving it a try, I’d love to know who, besides Take, would knock an elderly person over (while talking on a cell phone) and not have it register in their dead battery of a brain.
Speaking of math, My elementary school age grandchildren have a curriculum called ‘Touch Math’. Every number is represented by a number of dots on that particular number. When you add say, 5+6 they count five dots on the five and count six dots on the six to get eleven. I don’t understand how that’s teaching them to add and subtract or why that curriculum was ever approved.
#29Jeanette – Programs like that are supposed to teach children see numbers as concrete things and later they’ll move towards more abstract math concepts. I personally have no idea if it works as I only taught math for a brief period of time.
Some have argued that teaching basic math skills are becoming an obsolete practice because of calculators, which is a shame.
This math and kids discussion jogged an old memory I had.
I once had a child in second grade who had developed her own method of adding – if you said to her, “Tell me what 4 plus 5 equals”, she’d rapidly lick the number of fingers involved, then tap those fingers against her forehead in rapid succession, look puzzled and then with a big smile, announce “9!”.
Whatever floats your boat!
#32 LOL, that’s cute! I was never a math wiz….I cannot ‘deal’ in the abstract, I am very much a visual person. Algebra and calculus kicked my butt!
Has anyone here been to People to see Kate’s new ‘do’. It is pathetic. If you thought the old rats nest was bad, this one is worse. It is so not flattering. I guess she has been keeping it ‘under wraps’ until she could make her big reveal on People.
Growing out a short don’t just sucks!!! HAHAHAHAHA
#34KristyLyn
Is the the hairdo they’re comparing to Carol Brady’s?
There’s a story..of a lovely lady…and it wasn’t Kate. Ha.
#27 judy
Just got to see your link….how sweet and cute!
I am being good and not over doing it today (and hopefully tomorrow). My family and I are going to my friends house for an obscene amount of food tomorrow night..LOL
Hubs has the next four days off and we can be nice and lazy together.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Eve and Day. I hope you get what you asked Santa for, you have family and friends around you, and your turkey is not dry!
I think I shall spend Christmas having my head examined.
Today I bought a new car. 2010 Honda Civic EXL-Nav. They didn’t have yellow so I settled for black.
Now mind you I am trading in my 2008 Honda Civic EXL-Nav because it has 24,600 miles on it. Am I crazy? I got a good deal on the trade in.
In my family cars are driven until they drop. The cars, not the family members. It’s unheard of trading a car in every couple of years.
Just call me trendsetter Syl. I was the first to get divorced, get a degree, move out of state for a while, and now, trading in a car not even 16 months old.
Glad I’m staying home on Christmas. Don’t want to hear it.
#14 Non traditional student
Congratulations!!!!!
Oh gosh, your story is so similar to mine.
Adult college, grieving widow, muser.
I am so proud of you.
When I went back to college and was getting straight A’s
(which never happened on high school), I asked a professor if my
high grades were because my papers were really good or the best thing out of the pile. He said both. I am sure this also applies to you.
The worst part of college was (not including math) sitting in a room with a bunch of students that did not want to be there, and dropping out after a few weeks. In the meanwhile they got student aid and I could not because we owned a house. My kiddies called me ‘Ma’.
Good for you majoring in math. You’re right in how math is taught. My problem is that I want to know the theory behind something. Mixing letters and numbers just doesn’t cut it. What if whomever invented algebra was wrong???
I am so sorry for your loss. Holidays are always hard. Tom passed 6 years ago and I still don’t celebrate holidays. I stay home alone. When you lose your soul-mate it’s like half of you died. In my case, the better half.
Maybe you can start a new tradition. Passing card racks filled with husband cards was an ordeal. Now what I do is every Christmas I buy or make a card, write in my thoughts and synopsis of the past year, seal it and put it in his dresser. Helps me feel connected. My daughter started doing it last year on Father’s Day. It’s just a thought…..
Please know I am thinking of you and know your honey is still there. He’s just invisible! You can always email me…..Moon has my permission to give you my email address.
Take care, cry all you want. Everyone grieves in their own way. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
A peaceful holiday to you and your family…..
love, Syl
Yes it was like Carol Brady’s. And here is a Christmas present for everyone in case you haven’t heard: Kate Gosselin was turned down for the Paula Deen show because she was too controversial and basically they said she was untalented. She was TURNED DOWN. this was on Radar and they said TLC fought hard for her but they said no. That is so damn fantastic. Merry Christmas Kate. Maybe your luck is finally changing and everything won’t be going your way.
Oh gawd Syl. This means I need to trade in my ‘07 Mustang with 11,500 miles on it tomorrow. And it’s almost paid off! NOOOOOOO. This is the last car I ever buy.
#43 escrow mom
I know i know. It’s like “oops it rained. Time for a new car”. My daughter thinks I’m nuts. She may be right. I also thought the ‘old’ one was the last I was going to buy. Now the new one will be the last I’ll buy. Still shaking head in amazement.
I guess all the car purchases over at la casa gosselin rubbed off on me.
I’ve become a secret sheeple wanting to be just like Kate.
Shoot me please!
Merry Christmas to all my muser friends.
Y’all are terrific savvy caring ladies.
This year instead of sending cards, donations were
made to Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption in NY and
Heaven Sent Home (a homeless shelter in Eastern TN).
Peace……
Should probably put this in the Gosselin thread but…
Bet it was Hailey’s new goon boyfriend.
Jon Gosselin’s NYC Apartment ‘Ransacked’
Posted Dec 26th 2009 4:45PM by TMZ Staff
TMZ has learned Jon Gosselin’s apartment in New York City was ‘ransacked’ — and the alleged culprit left a note behind with his ex girlfriend’s name on it.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ when Jon returned to his pad today, his television was missing and some of his pillows had been sliced up.
Sources say a note was left behind with Hailey Glassman’s name signed at the bottom — but we’re told someone else could have easily signed her name on it. The apartment is actually listed under both Gosselin and Glassman’s name.
We’re told Jon is filing a complaint with police.
UPDATE: Jon’s television was not stolen, but get this … our sources say there was knife stuck through the note that was left behind — and whoever wrote it called Jon a “cheater.”
This is getting creepier and creepier.
Why do I have the feeling this all will end in tragedy?

Why do I have the feeling this all will end in tragedy?
—————-
Because these cretins are making his life a living hell & they probably won’t be happy until he’s gone. I am SO sick of him being blamed for ‘walking out on his wife and kids’ and the misinformed opinions of him. I swear if, God forbid, he takes his own life…man oh man, how can these fucked up people live with themselves?
Heller the Hack released a statement regarding Jon’s break-in. From ROL:
Jon Gosselin Says “Troubled & Sick Perpetrator” Trashed His Apartment
Jon Gosselin’s called in the cops to investigate his apartment being trashed. His former girlfriend Hailey Glassman has lawyered-up! If you thought it couldn’t get any better than this, well think again!
The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star’s attorney Mark Heller issued a statement detailing in great detail with flowing commentary, what Gosselin encountered at his NYC apartment Saturday afternoon and the emotional toll it has taken on him.
Jon Goes To The Cops, Hailey Gets An Attorney
Read it and weep:
“Jon Gosselin called me this afternoon, on the occasion when he entered his apartment in Manhattan and was horrified, disheartened, and saddened to observe the devastation of his furniture, clothing and personal belongings, which were apparently slashed with a butcher knife by a very troubled and sick perpetrator.
“Jon immediately contacted me and facilitated the able assistance of the New York City Police Department who immediately dispatched an experienced Detective to Jon’s apartment, where a forensic team commenced an intense investigation including photographing and fingerprinting of evidence at the crime scene. In addition, the Police Department seized a note that had been affixed to Jon’s bedroom dresser by a butcher knife that was speared through the note into the wooden dresser – The note will be forensically analyzed by a handwriting expert.
“At this time, I will not release the contents of the note or the signator, however, both Jon and I have determined that the perpetrator must be vigorously prosecuted on Felony charges. In addition to the aforementioned vandalism, Jon’s television, CD player, coffee maker, a Nintendo Wii game, dishes, pots and pans were burglarized from his apartment, and Jon’s shoes, shirts, luggage, bed, curtain, rugs and other furnishings in the apartment were slashed, most likely by the same butcher knife that affixed the note to his dresser.
“Sadly, along with the trashing of Jon’s apartment, a Ming vase, believed to be over 100 years old that was a family heirloom, was smashed to pieces.
“However, the greatest damage from this vicious, mean spirited and heartless crime was perpetrated not on Jon’s property and possessions, but on Jon Gosselin himself, who experienced a traumatic, emotional, roller coast ride having just shared a joyful family gathering with his children during their Christmas Celebration and the last thing that Jon contemplated when entering his New York City apartment, on what is suppose to be a Season that heralds in peace and goodwill, was to be devastated by such a cruel and cold-blooded act that was apparently intended to cut to his heart.”
Here’s the post prior to Heller’s statement. Someone who posted looked up Hailey’s attorney online ‘Stephanie Ovadia is the same name as the attorney who represented Michael Lohan in his love child support case. An attorney by that name is also listed on Facebook with the description “Mother of 8″‘ If THAT doesn’t scream ‘JON’S BEING SET UP’ I don’t know wtf will:
Maybe Jon Gosselin and Hailey Glassman should get their own reality TV show – because there’s still plenty of drama surrounding the broken up couple.
Gosselin is talking to police about finding damage in his apartment and RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that Hailey Glassman believes he’s blaming her and has brought her lawyer Stephanie Ovadia into the situation.
Hailey is planning to speak with police — with her lawyer present — about the situation, a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com exclusively.
Hailey is furious and sources close to her tell RadarOnline.com that she’s accusing Jon of seeking media attention by trying to get her arrested.
RadarOnline.com broke the news that on Friday Hailey accused the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star of pocketing her half of the rent money and then not paying the rent. She recently moved out of the apartment they shared.
Article on Hailey’s ‘new boyfriend’ boxing promoter Damon Feldman from Philadelphia Magazine published December 2009:
phillymag com/articles/damon_feldman_profile_king_of_the_d_list/page1
From Page 4:
After that, Pennsylvania didn’t renew his promoter’s license anymore. And so Feldman went off the grid, to redefine celebrity. He’s staged fights with Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s dad, and Phil Margera, father of TV stunt-host Bam Margera — guys who aren’t even the most famous people in their immediate families.
Does anyone remember that post the other week from GWOP that was ominous about the final nail in Jon’s coffin coming up soon?
Here’s my conspiracy theory: TLC or Kate (or both) have all of these asses on their payroll…..including the last person who trashed Jon’s appt. They are setting it up to look like Jon staged it. Notice how Kate is laying low lest she be a suspect?
They will stop at nothing until Jon is completely ruined…..or worse…..I think the NYPD would be smart to take a look at some of the blogs that house the sheeple for clues…..
Judy, I agree with you, I also thought of the post on GWOP. It’s really very sad, Jon is not a saint, but it just seems like he can never get a break.
The latest:
EXCLUSIVE: Cops Question Hailey Glassman In Jon Gosselin Investigation
Posted on Dec 27, 2009 @ 02:19PM
Accompanied by her attorney Stephanie Ovadia and her associate Anand Ahuja, who specializes in domestic violence cases, Hailey Glassman was interviewed by the NY Police Department Saturday evening. They wanted to speak to her in connection with a burglary Jon Gosselin reported at the apartment the two previously shared.
Without naming Hailey as the suspect, Gosselin’s attorney Mark Heller called the person who ransacked his client’s apartment “troubled and sick.” He claimed a butcher knife was used to destroy everything from clothes to curtains.
RadarOnline.com was the first to report that Hailey had brought in high-powered attorney Ovadia to protect her interests.
Ovadia and Ahuja were back with the cops Sunday afternoon, this time with Hailey’s parents, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
“After speaking with Hailey, the police wanted to talk to her parents,” Mr. Ahuja told us.
The New York Police Department confirmed that it is looking into the situation. “There is an investigation,” Sgt. Nieves told RadarOnline.com. “We are not making any further comment at this time.”
I wonder if there is truth to Hailey’s claim that Jon was pocketing the rent $$ she gave him rather than paying the rent? I can see if that were true, one could really be angry. Surely not enough to do that, plus, wouldn’t that be downright stupid, considering she was in the process of moving out? Wouldn’t she be the first one they came to? Are they all really this dumb?????
According to the information I “googled”, Anand Ahuja specializes in contract law – not domestic violence as ROL indicates.
Congrats to NTS – know it sometimes takes awhile but can be done.
Re Jon and apt trashing – anyone ck the security tape on the freight elevator and back entrance??? Out of loop for awhile – other than the child support of $10k a month, how was the property divided,
and how is J supporting himself???
Happy New Year folks!!!
